I have 3 boys ages 11 - 13 - 14. They are all very well behaved most of the time, never get in trouble at school..are all into sports, respect me and their father. Would never say "I hate you" or "shut-up" and everyone who knows us says that they are the nicest kids they ever met. Sounds great hey? Well here is my issue....lately (the last year or more) they are arguing alot, and mouthy to each other. As oon as i hear it i go to them and say i will not put up with this and say you are sorry, but within a few hours i will hear them at it again. Things like Get out of my face, i dont want to hear it, get a life, you are a loser get away from me, i wish i didnt have to live with you so on and so on. Should i just accept this as normal brotherly behavior? Am i getting all upset about nothing at all? It upsets me so much when i hear them be nasty to each other and it really bothers me that when i put my foot down and tell them to stop it they keep doing it. How can i fix this?

Create ways in which they have to depend on each other to complete a project. Make them work together. Lay down the rules and the outcome if the rules are not followed. Very often kids never change because the parents don't change... Why make a blind threat to a kid if he doesn't do............yada yada yada.

And then not enforce it.

So make them work as a team
set up rules for behavior and list the punishments
Punish as necessary for rule violations...don't get soft.

Consequences. Every time they mouth off, they miss going to a sports practice or game. Then they have to tell their coach that they mouthed off and got punished. If YOU are consistent and make the punishment stick and don't buckle under their whining and cries, they'll stop doing it after missing the 2nd practice or game.

The bible says you should train your child which way to go and he would not depart from it. Watch the movies they have been watching, the friends they have been keeping. You could stop these by taking them to church and teaching them the word of God. Pray for them. I hope you have Jesus in you? You need him if you dont. Go to a bible-based church. God bless.

Tell them to treat each other as if it's the last day of the other person's life.
