It depends on the scientist you talk to. Their are different views for this. People have different views on the age of the Earth from the bible to. What is known is mankind is 6000 years old. Adam 4000 BC ; 2000 BC Abraham; 0 Jesus; 2000 Now.
The Earth could have existed billions of years, or only thousands of years before mankind. This really doesn't matter much. What matters is that in the beginning God created the heaven's and the earth.

One moment please
(Genesis 1:1) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

(Genesis 1:2) And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

In the first verse God created the heaven and the earth, but in verse 2 something has happened to the earth. It is a waste land. Scholars believe that something happened between these two verses and the length of time could be millions of years.

4 billion years. I'm a Christian and I also believe in evolution because the Bible is an open book... there are hidden meanings in there if you have the intellect to find them.

We dont care, we know in our lung (or heart I am not sure) that the Bible is right and that scientist are wrong. The Bible does not mention scientist so we dont care about them.
