I need to lose 6lbs. and I totally want to change my eating habits. I'm not the best at going grocery shopping. What are healthy things I buy and make to eat to lose weight without having to hurl it up in the bathroom.

you can make great salads with things like: romaine lettuce, red bell peppers, baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, maybe some parmesean...italian dressing..

i like to make chicken ahead of time for use on salads or sandwiches...I use chicken tenderloins and bake them in some italian dressing (about a cup? just til it looks covered) and it comes out soft and flavorful..cover with foil while baking..

crackers are good and handy: try kashi TLC, they come in different flavors and all are good.

oatmeal or whole grain cereals, beans, fruits, veggie's. AND if you have a sweet tooth, be sure to keep a couple things on hand that you CAN have without feeling guilty to help keep you on track... good luck! remember a healthy weight loss rate is only a pound or two a week, so don't overdo it. If you only have six pounds to lose, those are likely going to be the toughest to shave off, but that's okay, just be patient, and remember if it comes off slowly it's more likely to stay off...make sure exercise is a part of your routine to help maintain your efforts!~

If you want to totally change your eating habits, it will take some time. The most successful way to change your diet is slowly. If you aren't eating fresh fruits and vegetables now, slowly add a couple servings a day. If you eat salad drenched in dressing, slowly use less and less until you only use enough for flavor. By doing things gradually, you'll learn to like the changes and your brain won't know that you've changed what you eat. When people try to cut out all the bad things in their diet, they're doomed to failure because your brain will be screaming for the good stuff instead of the healthy stuff. 6 pounds isn't much to loose, so start with a better diet and go for a walk.

Six pounds is not alot, so it should not be too hard to loose this ammount of weight in about 2-3 weeks.

As for grocery shopping. Aviod processed, pre-packaged foods as much as possible. These contain lots of hidden calories from, added sugars and fillers, not to mention they are full of extra sodium.

Stick to fresh things like fruits, veggies and whole grains. For example when buying breakfast cereal look for cereals that have at least 3 grams of dietary fiber per serving. A serving is usualy 1/2-3/4 cup. Cereals that fall into this category are any of the Kashi Cereals, Special K, Wheaties, Frosted Mini-wheats. Switch to a lower fat milk like skim or 1%, cut out butter or substitute it with a lower fat spread like Fleishmans Olive Oli spread. Switch from wonder bread to whole grain breads. Try eating lean meats such as chicken or fish instead of beef and pork. Cut out sodas, sugary drinks and juices that are not 100%juice too. And remember also you can get alot of hidden calories from drinking blended coffee and tea drinks (like from Starbucks). And finally, cut your portion sizes of your meals.

What I also find helpful is to cut up my veggies and stuff when I get home from the store and then store them in zip bags in the fridge, that way I can just throw them in the pan when I"m ready. If you also sit down and plan your meals out for your week, it's easier to make a shoppng list and to stick to your diet plans. If you know what you need to buy, you won't end up with alot of impulse buys.

And as for the sweet tooth...and I have a huge one! I drink chocolate skim milk. It satisfies my sweet cravings with out doing too much damage and I'm getting a dairy serving in as well.

Good luck.

Fresh fruit, and vegetables. You still could eat meat but don't make it fattening, and also exercise.
