i don't believe in Karma...what's given (materially or something else) goes away...what's received goes to you...there's no way or PROOF that it comes back to you

Churches are nothing more than legalized fraud and they know a fool and his money are soon parted.

If you believe in karma, or the threefold rule, every good deed that you perform will come back to you, whether in this life, or the next.
You don't give to get anything out of it, you simply give because you can, and because giving is good.
If you think the preacher's pocketing the money, don't give him money, volunteer, give time.
Buy a friend who has no food a lunch.
THOSE are the things that God likes, giving when it's least expected of you, not when you've got an entire pew staring you down.

If you can give, do, cause it's usually going toward a good cause, if not, don't. Do something else.
Sheena

Tithing is obedience to God's word. Offerings are what you give above tithing.

Tithing is the only thing God tells us to test him with. I am living proof that you can't out give God.

Before Christmas, I sure could have used my tithe for gifts. I love to give. However, money was tight.

I prayed about it and tithed.

For the past few years, my company has given out a Christmas bonus. That's what I thought I'd be using for gifts this year. I just wouldn't be buying as much. I was okay with that. So I prayed that I would get the usual Christmas bonus. ((Mind you, I wasn't expecting it, just praying for it. LOL))

Anyway, my direct boss tells me that the President of the Company called and asked if such and such dollar amount sounded good, for the Christmas bonus? She didn't want to share the dollar amount in case they didn't give exactly what they spoke about.

Long story short, I get my bonus check...and it's three times what it had been in past years. Get that, three times. Once they took taxes, it was twice as much as I have received in the past and that was before taxes.

I showed it to my boss and she told me that was higher than they had talked about...

God is faithful to his word. I know because he blessed me for being obedient.

I give God the glory for this. You can not out give God!

Besides, it goes to further the Kingdom of God. It helps with missionary work, programs to help feed and clothe people. It helps people that lose their job and need help for a month or two. It pays the bills for the electricity, gas, water, paper, the salary for the pastor(s). Running a ministry cost money.

Not all churches or pastors "fleece the flock." ...and if they do, they will have God to answer too.

If you can give then you should, that offering is not about money. It's about helping people and that money often goes to those in need. A happy giver can give more than just money, you can lend a helping hand without spending money.

If you are attending a church that promotes this kind of false teaching, I'd advise you to find another congregation!

The entire "health and wealth" prosperity movement that has taken hold of many North American churches should be declared the fraud it is!

They should go to China or Sudan or Vietnam where Christians are persecuted and maimed and killed for what they believe.

no i dont.
it shouldnt if you do it the right way
thats a lie when they tell you a happy giver has won heaven
a happy giver will never need any thing like example there are people who dont have a house or food or clothing well things like that and when your a happy giver you and you trust God and you have him as your personall savior he will help you it sounds like if its alot but it isnt at all

to have Jesus as your savior do this:
just believe that your a sinner and that the only way to heaven is Christ and only he can save you.
That he died on the cross for your sins and he whashed them away with his blood. That he died and rose again on the 3rd day and that he lives in heaven.
thats all and you have to pray (talk to God) you close your eyes and say:
Dear God thank you for this day you have given me. I want to receive you in my heart and i want you to be my personall savior I beleive that you died on the cross and that you rose again and that you live in heaven and you are preparing a place for those who beleive in you in Jesus` name Amen.

If you do it with all your heart you are saved from going to hell where people cant get out and you burn yourself but you never die because its eternall

I don't really feel disturbed by it. The same basic principle underlies our desire to give to charities and such. We believe that by doing good, good will return to us. This concept is pretty much universal in all religions even if they don't use the word "karma" to describe it.

Fortunately my preacher rarely talks about tithing. In fact,he says that God doesn't need the money! But if we pay an honest tithe, we will recieve blessings from God. I have found that to be true.

yes, it bothers me... as prosperity preachers bother me... usually, if i hear something like that preached at church, i ignore it... but it is true that God loves a cheerful giver... but such verse in the Bible is often times over-used by certain churches to increase offerings.... which I think is wrong

Yes; they make it seem as if you have to give money in order to be forgiven and loved by the Lord and Jesus. It is simply not true and I refuse to go anywhere that says things like that. If I'm giving money to you, thank me and continue.

(2Corinthians 9:7) Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. Clearly you have never been taught on the benefits of tithing and its rewards. Do you give to any cause?
