I think that this is a really bad place to ask because you're going to get lots of people giving you garbage for such an important decision.
I made the choice about 8 years ago to become muslim. It took me a loooong time to make up my mind, but finally after visiting the local mosque again, on his way out one guy asked me if I made up my mind, and without thinking I blurted out "Yes". I made shahada and my life has been beautiful ever since.
Please feel free to contact me to discuss this one on one and from a person who has been in your shoes. I think you're going to get some very bad responses by Islam-bashers and bigots on the Yahoo Answers section.
Best wishes on making this very important, life-altering decision. I'm thankful I made it ever since.

What do you believe? If you are not feeling right about becoming a muslim then don't do it because it's not right. You're only gonna lead yourself into false deception believing that this is truly what you want, but instead it's not. Try another religion like the christian religion and see how you like, but all the while keep on praying to the Lord that he may direct your way and help you to grow in spirit through prayer and faith because all in all there is only one God.
God Bless you my Sister.

Islam is the choice you need to make on your own. when i embraced Islam, i too studied it little over a year.
I visited my local mosque and spoke to many Muslim women.
Peace be with you my friend...
Surah Al Iklas:
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
Say: He is Allah, the One!
Allah, the eternally Besought of all!
He begetteth not nor was begotten.
And there is none comparable unto Him.

Have you studied Islam though?
Do you like the tenets, beliefs, etc. of Islam? Do you agree Islam will bring you all you need to become a completely altruistic, loving human being and get you to what you consider your fullest potential?
If the answers are yes, yes and yes... then take Shahada and I wish you happiness.
