You can give the pups a bath, but it isn't going to fix the problem. You really have to get them treated for fleas, and at their age, the ONLY way to do it is to treat their mother. If you don't do something quickly, the pups can get very sick or even die from anemia (low iron in the blood) from loosing too much blood to the fleas. Please remove all the bedding and wash it. Also. vacuum your whole house like there is no it no tomorrow. When you vacuum, throw out the bag or dump out the container every time. The only way that the pups can be getting fleas is from the mother, or another animal in the house.
Believe it or not, I breed Shih Tzus and own a pest control company. I answer a lot of questions on puppies and fleas. Trust me when I say, you really need to treat the mother and any other animals you have in the house, or you will not solve this problem. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to e-mail me.

Contact your vet to find out what you can use on puppies that young. Frontline is a great product that you squeeze on each dog's neckline monthly, but I'm not sure how old the puppy has to be before you can use it. Can be purchased at the vet's office, at a pet store, or online. If they are too young for that you should go to your local pet store and find a flea shampoo that is ok to use on 4 week old puppies. That will only kill the fleas they have on them, not all of the fleas and their eggs that are in your home. For that you will need to buy an insect bomb that is made to kill fleas and fumigate your house immediately. You and the dogs will have to leave the house for a few hours but it's worth it. You will have a major flea infestation in your home if you don't act soon. Trust me, I have been there. I had to bomb my house 4 times to get rid of them all and now that I use frontline every month have not seen a flea in over a year.

Just call the Vet and ask -- they are awfully young for any kind of soap. Maybe he has a different suggestion. Anyway, dish soap will not get rid of the fleas. Try removing ALL the bedding - and try to get the flees and wash in HOT water. Bleach if you can. Then vacuum every inch of the pups area. Wipe them down with a wet washrag - but keep them really warm so they don't get chilled afterwards. Wipe down mom too. Then give them a nice clean bed. When they are older, they can get a flea treatment.

no first you don't want to chance the pups getting too cold if mom is keeping them clean. second dish soap won't rid your pups of fleas, all you'll be doing is washing the fleas. call your vet, there are not many products safe to use on a lactating b*itch and on pups this young. the safest products are going to be carried by your vet. good luck.
frontline and other products like this is not labeled safe for use in puppies under 6 weeks of age, and even treating mom with the product will allow some transfer to the pups.

They are way too young to get them wet. Puppies need to be kept as warm as possible, because if they get too chilled, they can die. My suggestion would be to just call your vet up, explain what's going on, and they will give you advice over the phone about the best way to get rid of fleas, on a puppy that young. Good Luck! and Congratulations on the babies!

Talk to a vet. Dont just go out and buy a chemical for the puppies or the dogs because this could seriously harm the puppies even if you just treat the mother. TALK TO A VET.

NO, it could chill (and then kill) the puppies. I would go to your vet and get CAPSTAR it is a medication that you give orally that will kill all of the fleas on the dog in about 20 minutes. It is simple to give, safe, and inexpensive. You cannot use Frontline or any other flea medication on puppies that young without risking serious damage or death to the puppies.

Fleas are a major pest. There are various species of fleas - cat fleas, dog fleas, rat fleas and rabbit fleas.
You can get rid of them by the safest and cheapest methods like boric acid.

first..make sure the room is nice and warm. get some johnsons and johnsons baby shampoo (it is safe for your puppy) allow it to sit for a good ten minutes. do not let the puppy get cold, you can wrap him in a towel fresh from the dryer while you wait. if you put it on thick enough it will suffocate the fleas. do not use any chemicals on any puppy under eight weeks old.
