Kolob is a "governing" place of reference...those scriptures give record of Abraham learning about the sun, moon, and stars by means of the Urim and Thummim—The Lord reveals to him the eternal nature of spirits—He learns of pre-earth life, foreordination, the creation, the choosing of a Redeemer, and the second estate of man.
Why is that so hard to understand for people??? Kolob is like a reference point. No where do we ever learn or are ever taught that God lives on Kolob, that we will have an earth like Kolob, that Christ lives there or anything else. In fact, I have never even really known anything about "Kolob" until others have brought it up! That goes to show we don't actually know a lot about Kolob - only what is in the scriptures.
You like to really read into things don't you...
And who knows where Jesus is? Maybe he is in spirit prison teaching unrighteous souls? Maybe He is sitting at the throne of God waiting for his Second Coming? Who knows? We don't and don't claim to either.

As pinkadot pointed out, it's just an abstract reference, the star closest to where God is, could be any star - could be our own sun, could be in some other dimension -who knows?

Where is Jesus right now at this second? Kind of hard to say when you're talking about a being that isn't subject to time.

Since we believe that God has a body of flesh and bone, that means He has to live somewhere, right. So he lives near Kolob, which I like to think is another universe. So maybe Kolob is like our Sun and He lives near the Sun.
Jesus is near Kolob as well. Heaven is near Kolob.

Because, as with any religion, believers have faith that God does not lie and continues to direct His people.

Jesus exists with God (He said that in the Bible).
