What the hell do i do for the camera not to show half the screen dark and the other half light? (recording off tv) that might help.

You are seeing the interlace. Basically the TV is painting lines slower than the camera can catch. You need to manually set the lens and exposure to stay open longer. TV runs at about 30 frames per second, each frame two paints. So make sure the camera stays open at least 1/30th of a second, or maybe even 1/15th of a second.

NOT all Digital cameras allow this level of manual control. ANALOG film cameras almost always do.
