Well I look at it this way. Depending upon if you're a visual or auditory person art, images or pornography can all add to eroticisim. Clothing and scents are the same as well as touches to an erogenous zone all are stimuli as well.
I honestly believe that unless you can either achieve an erection on demand or a woman become lubricated by just snapping her fingers than all people need some type of erotic stimuli to not only get the ball rolling but to enhance the act.

I think that humans have a deep seated need to reproduce. And of course, to do this, we evolved a need for "sex". Because of everyone's inate urge for "sex" (and yes EVERYONE feels that urge, even monks say so, if you watch documentaries), some unscrupulous people have developed a way to capitalize on it. Therefore, erotic material began to infiltrate society. I wouldn't say that people have a "need" for eroticism per se, but most have a curiosity about it and it plays into their need for "sex" and their primal instincts.

Sure. We are basically animals living in an overly structured world. The instinct to mate is still there. Like most animals, the main drive during life is to leave offspring to keep the species alive.

Yes and yes. I am a much happier female since I have stopped being a "good girl" and started to enjoy the titillating and erotic.

we as human beings have a genetic need to propagate.
how we do this, how we attract the opposite sex and mate, is what sets us apart from other species.
