Who gives you the right to tell others what religion or spiritual belief they should be?? Somone wrote here yesterday that she got annoyed that questions about her spiritual views Pagan were posted in the mythology section and not in religion and spirituality and yet when I posted a question about my alternative spiritual views here I was condemned and attempts to convert. People are very arrogant to believe that their views - such as christianity is right or the fact that the caring christians with their hell and damnation and demons point of view have taken over this area Religion and Spirituality - what do you think?? I think that people with closed minds limit themselves from learning and ridiculing shows a low form of intelligence!!!

Some one wrote they thought the religion and spirituality site should be closed down due to the hate - and I agree I posted a question here about suicide and not one christian person had anything comforting to say about my felings on some who killed themselves - just told me they would go to hell - how kind and understanding and there were a lot of thumb downs on that answer!!!!!
Everyone can believe what they want but that includes all beliefs.
Also I think its diabolical that people die for a country and cannot have what they want on the tombstone down with Religious intolerance!!!

Open inteligent debate is fine on any topic but when one person attacks another with "your going to hell" or you need a shrink without attempting to understand then that is arrogance. In Religion and Spirituality I am astounded at the nstiness and contempt that some chrsitian folk have for others. Its mind boggling!!!

No-one has the right to tell you what your spiritual beliefs are. That is precisely why I hate Jehovah's Witnesses so much. I don't see the Catholics or Buddhists knocking on my door trying to convert anyone.
Believe what YOU want to believe. You might like to hang around Stonehenge at 3 in the morning others believe god hangs around in bushes talking to men carrying slabs (Moses).
I'll admit I will poke fun at most religions. Mostly because of the type of people you have mentioned and I don't have any time for any of them anyway. But that is just my opinion and is just an excercise in freedom of speech as well as a cynical disposition on life. Just ignore me, those like me and those trying to convert. Be yourself, you don't need anyone's approval.

People that truly believe in their faith tend to want to help others "walk the path of righteousness". I don't agree with trying to convert or condemning those that don't have the same beliefs that I do, however, discussion, as long as it is intelligent, is good. It opens people's eyes to ideas that they may not have or may never thought of. Not every one will agree with all thoughts or ideas, but they are purely that, thoughts and ideas. No one has the right judge a person for their beliefs, however you if don't want an opinion that you don't like, don't ask a question. It seems too many people just want to be validated these days and not actually discuss their beliefs and why they believe the things they do. Once you have a discussion about faith, and are actually made to defend why you believe what you do, the old "cuz my parents did" doesn't really hold water any more. Discussions force people to evaluate what they are taught, and once they have to dig deep, some people are afraid that they can't defend their beliefs.

Well some people accept their religious teachings completely and utterly - that means they never question anything their parents/religious leaders etc tell them. So maybe they're just not equipped to question and debate this topic. They let it get too personal. Then they can't understand how everyone doesn't feel it as strongly as they do - and they feel it their duty to change that! When you challenge them, they don't have any strong argument to fall back on, because they only believe it because they've been ordered to, for the most part, or because it's something they feel deep inside that can't be explained. I think that's why some of them get abusive, because they can't think of anything else to say. My particular group has spent some time predicting the usual "abuses" monotheists can come out with, and thinking up well-worded responses, so we'll never be stuck in that situation!

Religion, got lost! Genesis 2: 11, is the Pons, that's the brain to carbon, 2: 12 is the blood, or the heart, and that's hydrogen to the chains of our Periodic Kingdom of all elements, 'miry clay' sort of speech. 2: 13 and oxygen to the lungs is the breath of an Almighty God. And, 2: 14, you have nitrogen, the nervous system branching of all that mobility of mankind is the 'mark' of. Carbon 18% in man, 0% in Earth, (free floating), Hydrogen 10% in man, 0% free floating within the Earth, Oxygen and while man is mentioned of 64.6%, the Earth is mentioned of 49.2%, and nitrogen 3.872 in man, 0% in the Earth means that all matter is of the makeup of mankind, the Bible. Some thought to keep that hidden, God understood and allowed such works to happen, anyway. But when the Day would come for truth to surface, well, then God only asked that NO CONDEMNATION!!! He is God and if He didn't want such to occur it would to wouldn't have. Believe that! Maturation is not just one of a personal level but societal, also! How much time will we turn to look at our brothers when the time needed is in search of myself, and the cohesive bond of that soul mate, ONE DAY!

A closed mind will always demonstrate its darkness when the person using it resorts to physical violence when he/she can't use their ideas to control others. People do this collectively i.e. Communism versus Individualism, Autocracy versus Plebiscite, Roman Catholicism versus Free Church, White House versus Senate. In each of these there is a master/slave relationship where the greater power uses thuggery to get its way. The Romans were particularly good at this and they struck fear in the hearts of men by the sheer brutality of their force - rather like American forces today.
For a lucid, crisp and short discussion on the relationship between 'ideas' and 'brutality' you can have a copy of my booklet 'DNA of SIN' at www.markgolding.com

You are asking who gives people the right to think or say what they want. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and on a forum designed for people to voice those opinions, they have every right to say exactly what they want - as long as they aren't obscene or physically threatening. Atheists, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, pagans, gay, straight, or otherwise... all are entitled to their opinions.
The key to tolerance, peace and harmony in the religious sphere is not "stop offending people." The key is to recognize the right of everyone to say what they want.
Atheists, go ahead - say what you want about my religion. Every time you do you are encouraging the free exchange of ideas. Christians - tell the atheists how stupid they are for rejecting your God. More power to you.

With most structured religions you get intolerances, because religion is a major reason for humans go to war. On an unmoderated site like this, people use it to preach, forward their ideas and slam other people's, rather than ask questions about other faiths to further understand them and learn tolerance.
As far as I know, you can chose which category your questions end up in, no matter how inappropriate; I remember one recently that ended up on 'Religion and Spirituality' that was about what they wanted for dinner or something like that.

I have every right to say anything I want to. If your beliefs are false, I want to change them. I also want you to argue with me and try to convince me that you're right -- after all, I may be wrong, and if I am, I want to find out.
If intellectual discourse were just a big fluffy love-fest with everyone stroking each other, we'd never make progress towards the truth. Argument is good.

Funny your question sounds pretty aggressive and nasty to me. Calling people arrogant and judging our faith by what you believe it to be. If you ask me a question about Christianity don't go crying the blues that I am forcing my religion on you, when you are here on the R&S site expect to hear our views.
