There are good ones and bad ones. Anyone can act idiotic at times, even psychiatrists ,but they've had a lot of training and went through med school, etc., so they usually know what they're talking about.

No, they're not gods, they're people. They have buttons that can be pushed just like anyone and can make mistakes. I'm sorry that your experiences have been so bad and that you're having such a hard time.

Actually I have seen many psychiatrists, having been a psychiatric nurse for 16 + years. I have never yet met a psychiatrist who claimed to be god. I have met a very small amount who have behaved arrogantly at one time or another. I have worked with many really good psychiatrists and also have had the good luck to work with what I felt were the best of the best psychiatrists. I am sorry you feel you have not had a good relationship as yet with a psychiatrist. Please do not give up, you will find one who will "listen" and it will be worth trying to find. Maybe it was just bad chemistry between you and your last few psychiatrists. Perhaps what you may need along with a psychiatrist is a counselor/therapist to work with your issues and really listen. Good luck to you.

Psychiatrists are doctors, perhaps some of them get bad names because of mistakes they have made, just like we all do, they are people just like me and you, they have emotional flaws, weaknesses and fears like me and you. For some reason people think they are perfect, like they have no problems just because there the ones who are fixing so many peoples problems. From what i've found they are helpful, dont get me wrong, i think they over perscribe drugs too much, but i think that problem lies in the fact that people get sent to psychiatrists who really shouldnt be, for example, people with minor mental illnesses should see one to be diagnosed then maybe referred to a psychologist or a counsilor ect. think about it...if a person has a major mental illness like scizophrenia, where are they going to turn to? psychiatrists make real important changes in these peoples lives, often they make mistakes and screw up when dealing with smaller issues like depression, althought they may not seem small to you.

Nope they get paid to listen to people wine and complain and tell them to stop being idiots and fix themselves in a polite way with fancy words and crap like that. They then tell you to comeback so you can continue working on how to fix a problem that you already know how to fix. The idiot would be the one that keeps paying them for advice they already know.

Most psychiatrists are drawn to psychiatry because they have deep emotional issues that they themselves need to deal with. Subconsciously they are using their patients to make themselves feel good about their own emotional failures.
