Tough question! Both men were good counterpunchers but i'd have to give it to Sanchez. Sanchez could nail you from all angles with his counterpunching and he could hurt you. Benitez, while a good counterpuncher, was very defensive minded so he wasn't always in the right position to throw an effective counter. Sanchez could make you miss and make you pay instantly because he was still thinking offense while he was countering. He took Wilfredo Gomez and Azumah Nelson apart with precision counterpunches. Gotta go with Sanchez!

Good question Brent! Both men were excellent counterpunchers without question. I believe that when Sanchez landed his counterpunches they seemed to be with more devastating effect. Benitez is one of the most clever fighters ever and very good defensively. He would counterpunch probably more often than Sanchez but I beleve overall Sanchez was a little better counterpuncher.

I have to agree with my man Pancho. Sanchez was the better counterpuncher. Both were great though but like Pancho said, Benitez was always thinking defense first and having boxed myself, i know exactly what Pancho is saying. And to my man Smitty, ease up man! Nobody is saying Benitez wasn't a good fighter because he was. But that wasn't the question. The Question was is he a better counterpuncher than Sanchez, i don't think anyone would question his career achievements. And i too think Sanchez would have been a multiple champ had he lived. What's wrong with pointing that out? Lighten up Bro!

I GO WITH BENETIZ. HIS DEFENSIVE POSTURE DIDN'T CAUSE HIM TO BE AN EFFECTIVE COUNTER PUNCHER. HE WON 3 TITLES.
AS FAR AS WHAT SANCHEZ WOULD HAVE DONE HAD HE LIVED. I WILL QUOTE JIM MORA SR. " IF YOU COULDA, SHOULDA, WOULDA". HE WAS SAYING THAT THOSE 3 WORDS MEAN ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
