yeah. it's a nice theory but very unlikely here in the real world.

If a relationship fails, both parties feel hurt to some degree, but usually one is more hurt and feels he or she has the right to feel more hurt, so why should one remain friends with the other who hurt you?Everybody get sad and feel hurt when something like this happens, it's normal. The important thing is that no matter what, what has been cannot be changed, and whatever happens in the next 3-6 months doesn't really matter if we cannot accept the situation, that what happened happened and the relationship is over, it doesn't matter anymore who hurt who, it is about two people, who shared love together, that is when u realize that there is nothing good in hating your ex, or being sad and endulging in this sadness, or feeling betrayed or lyied to or disrespected. Whatever happened between u and her, was not personal. It didn't end because of you.Don't take it personally. It wasn't meant to be that's all.If you can accept it, then you will probably also be able to see that person who you once fell in love with, and you will be able to communicate to her without being angry, sad, hurt, you will be able to appreciate her for the good things that she has given to you.But if you feel that she has nothing to offer you anymore. Then you don't have to be friends.

because people who want to be your friend feel guilt over something THEY did. Like let's say for istance your g/f breaks up with you and asks "can't we still be friends" she did somethign that has her guilty, or feels she did somethign that has her wracked with guilt and by remaining friends they generally feel like it's an easy out. Every ex that's broken up with me i've hated for a while. After a year or 2 and i've had time to let it out of my system i can talk to them. AND then get a decent friendship but it's not like BAM sucker we're broke up thatnks for sex let's be friends. I agree with you those that can end an intimate relationship THEN go right to friends were never in love to start. People are just weird like that in general though

Simply put , it's the default , politically correct thing to say. That and I guess that no one wants to think (especially women) that someone out there hates them. You right about one thing , people who say this and even worse people who actually claim to be friends with there X's , they've got some kind of issue. It just goes against the natural order of things , its not normal.

Because it's ridiculous to have spent time loving somone and not be ble to call tehma friend after. If there is too much hurt between you to be friends then it may take time before you can be friends.

Easy...guilt. "Let's be friends" is the consolation prize. If they screwed you over..thinking offering friendship is letting you down easy, you weren't good enough to be a BF or GF...but friend you still rank for.
