Smith's prophecies directly.

In Doctrine and Covenants 87:2, Smith predicted that the American Civil War would "be poured out upon all nations." This did not occur. In Doctrine and Covenants 84:4-5, he prophesied that a temple would be built in Independence, Missouri during that generation. There is still no such temple. The list goes on. He obviously fails the test of a prophet as outlined in Deuteronomy 18:21-22.

Yes he is.....he founded the whole Mormon religion based on lies...he said that he saw an angel who told them about these golden plates.....and he said their was witnesses....the witnesses were all friends and relatives.....even if it was true that he saw something listen to what the bible has to say:

"I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed."

Gal. 1:6-8

Let me, a believer in Joseph Smith, explain to you the Civil War prophecy. What that prophecy was about is war would be spread out into all the world from that place as you said it would be. It was. After the Civil War started, there has always been a war on the earth. That is the meaning of that prophecy.

The second prophecy was not fulfulled as you said it was. You are right there. But, let me explain to you why. It was because the saints were sinning too much to build a temple there. It was not Joseph's fault; it was the saints fault. Hopefully this shows you why your claims to his "falsehood" are untrue.

It's a shame people cannot show respect for others, regardless of their beliefs. Why do people have to try and tear down others' beliefs? Rather, should they not share a message of good tidings and love, trying to share what they feel is the truth? Also, we are talking religion, something based almost entirely on faith (essentiallly all religion). You are not going to destroy someones faith or beliefs by arguing irrelevant facts. Bottom line, Mormons (as well as many Christians) believe God answers prayers, and most have probably prayed to know if Joseph Smith was a prophet. If God has answered their prayers and said he was, then they are free to believe, as you are free to believe what you will.

No explanation will change your opinion, but there have been some fairly decent ones.

Everyone except the Latter Day Saints believes Joseph Smith was a false prophet. Plenty of people think he was a cult leader.

JESUS_FREAK - where are you getting your information??? A planet Kola? 70 women for each man? COME ON! Stop spreading false information please.

Ah- another wonderful person mud-slinging...I love how since you and lots of other anti-mormons take things out of context and put your own twist on them they are suddenly "fact". Seriously...

Most of the "false prophecies" that critics attribute to Joseph Smith are not prophecies at all, but commandments that were not obeyed either because the Latter-day Saints were not faithful or because their enemies prevented them from doing so. For example, though the Lord commanded the Saints to built a temple in Independence, they were expelled from Jackson County and later from the state of Missouri. After the Saints had settled at Nauvoo, Illinois, the Lord told the prophet Joseph Smith:Verily, verily, I say unto you, that when I give a commandment to any of the sons of men to do a work unto my name, and those sons of men go with all their might and with all they have to perform that work, and cease not their diligence,
and their enemies come upon them and hinder them from performing that work, behold, it behooveth me to require that work no more at the hands of those sons of men, but to accept of their offerings. (D&C 124:49-?*)

There are similar statements in the Bible. For example, the prophet Isaiah told King Hezekiah, "Thus saith the Lord, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live" (2 Kings 20:1). But after the king pleaded with the Lord, the prophet delivered a new message, saying that 15 years would be added to his life. The Lord told Moses that he would destroy the Israelites and make of Moses a greater nation than they. When Moses protested that this would be wrong, the Lord changed his mind (Numbers 14:11-20).

And also - on the point of the civil war. He DID prophecy of the war...but that is not enough for you people. And verse 2 says "And the time will come that war will be poured out upon all nations, beginning at this place." Who says that was the Civil War??? There could still be some big war that is going to start you don't know.
Seriously, why not worry about yourself and quit trying to put others down. Not very Christ-like is it???

1 Nephi 22:14, 19
"...And all that fight against Zion shall be destroyed, and that great whore, who hath perverted the right ways of the Lord, yea, that great and abominable church, shall tumble to the dust and great shall be the fall of it.
• • •
19 For behold, the righteous shall not perish; for the time surely must come that all they who fight against Zion shall be cut off.

I wouldn't want to be the one fighting against Zion.
Seriously, just move on.

yes! let me countthe ways:

He claims to have seen in a vision where to find gold tablets in South America. Only 9 people claim to have seen those tablets and later 6 or 7 said they never had seen them anyway.

He claims that men can bcome gods, and the only way for women not to be damned to hell is thru marriage.

The Book of Mormon also says that God lives on a mysterious planet called Kola, and no1 knows where it is.

And the other kooky thing- apparently all Mormon men get like 70 virgins when they die.
