I know it should be between 0.3 and 5.0. But what is better, low or high end?

That range is outdated. The new range put out by AACE a couple years back is 0.3 to 3.0. (link below) Unfortunately many labs are still going by the old ranges. A good TSH is under 2.0 with most feeling best at about 1.0. TSH does not matter if one is on a T4/T3 thyroid medication.

I have also put another thyroid link below. Far too many doctors are undermedicating their patients because of outdated lab ranges. If you have symptoms still, you either aren't on the right dose of medication or you aren't on the right medication.,

Very few Endocrinologist still use this wide range. But the important thing is, where do you feel well? Talk with your Endo and get it within the range that is good for you. The bulletin board on this site is very helpful and it is well monitored to keep kooks off. Hope you are feeling well soon.

Your TSH level is irrelevant. It is only a tool that should tell the doctor if he needs to do further tests that do have relevance.

If your T3 and T4 levels are OK, and you feel OK, then your TSH level is fine, whatever it is.

I've heard lower end. But ultimately, it's a judgement call. Where do you feel better?
