Same reason why plants die, and humans die, etc.
Life only lasts so long, and if we didn't die, imagine how overpopulated this world would become.

Birth is terminal in all mammals.

I'm Still Here:
Friend, please don't mourn for me
I'm still here, though you don't see.
I'm right by your side each night and day
and within your heart I long to stay.
My body is gone but I'm always near.
I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I'll never depart
as long as you keep me alive in your heart.
I'll never wander out of your sight-
I'm the brightest star on a summer night.
I'll never be beyond your reach-
I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.
I'm the colorful leaves when fall comes around
and the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.
I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine, and you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.
When you start thinking there's no one to love you, you can talk to me through the Lord above you. I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees, and you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.
I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep
and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep. I'm the smile you see on a baby's face.
Just look for me, friend, I'm everyplace!

I'm sorry if you lost a pet. I know it's hard.
Animals die, the same reasons people die.
Some people believe that they go see god, some believe they come back as something else.
Whatever you believe just think that your pet is starting a whole new advebture

It is hard when you lose a pet. Y=There are people out there who just thinks "They are an animal. Why get upset?" To lots of pet lovers these pets are more then that. They are their children. My cats and dog are my kids! Love them to death.
Why do they die? That is a hard question. Just like why do humans die. Pet unfortunately age much faster then humans though. It isnt figured out to an exact science but basically 1 year of our life is like 7 years to them with age.

I can assume you've had one close to you that has passed, but they are no different than u & I, they have basically the same organ tissues that may fail like us, and also are prone do deceases as we are. But the good part of it all, is they too go to Heaven like you and I. I had to put down my 14 yr old Blue Point Hymalayan, but knew she was going to a better place than here and she'd meet all kinds of new friends, even more God restores thier health back to normal. I still here Shanti all the time "meow"
Sorry for your loss,

It's the circle of life. You sound like something happened to your pet. I pray to your pet.

same reason we die: from injuries; from sickness and disease; from food or water deprivation; from organ malfunction; from plain old age.
