If you are looking for great beaches not too many British tourists and nice weather try the Cape Verde Islands. They are further south then the Canaries and the weather is better they are also not full of british pubs etc.

Depends how much you want to spend. If you fancy spending that little bit more, go to the Caribbean. The Dominican Republic, Antigua or St Lucia are all lovely, and will be fairly quiet this time of year.
My favourite resort is the Body Holiday Resort in St Lucia. Its fairly expensive, but its all inclusive, and you get free spa treatments for every day that you're there.

Depending on your Budget,Gambia anywhere,Senegal if your French is Good,Cape Verdi for a change as it is relatively unspoint with some excellent beaches on some of the islands, however do not expect 5 star service as it is still under developed on some islands a haven really if you think about it before the masses ruin it for good? The New Cape Verdi brochure is now out,I had a flick through & as I like Africa, I will at some point go,Definitely.

Parts of Tenerife are beautiful. Stay away from Playa de las Americas and you'll be fine. My friend was there for New Year, 80 degrees and she's got a lovely tan. She was in the Los Cristianos area.

Specifically:
Praia da Rocha – Portimão – Algarve – Portugal:
Just been there. It’s very warm, very sunny, very safe and you’ll have the beach pretty much to yourself!

There are studio apartments overlooking the beach with an awesome view that cost £25 per night during Winter!!
