I know Ive asked this but Im wondering if anyone has experienced this..Is it normal for the vet to detect poop that looks like puppies?? He said it looked like poop because the images seemed linked together, and that he couldn't tell. It was only 20days since mating. I am going back to get another in a week or two but has anyone encountered this problem?

Yeah its too early for an x-ray and I wanted to find out if she is pregnant now so I can schedule routine vet appts for her until the 40th day for an x-ray. Would day 28 be more realistic for an ultrasound or would you wait?

I work in a vet's office and the doctors there nevre mistaken poop for pups. With ultrasounds when you are looking for them you see the heartbeat of the pups.
It might be a tad too early. go back at a later date, 25 days or so, have it redone. At that time you can do an xray. The bones of the pups will show and you can tell how many you are having!

Day 20 is WWWAAAAYYYYYYY too early. Never had it happen, but never had an ultrasound done at day 20 either.
Actual conception can occur up to 5 days AFTER breeding. So you might only be at day 15, and that really is early for ultrasound. I wait until days 28 usually. Have gotten better results.
They don't need much in the way of "routine vet appointments". It is not like human prenatal visits. Usually once for the ultrasound, and I have another for the x-ray the last week. They don't need to go anymore unless there are problems. You just assume pregnancy and feed/care accordingly.

I have never had a problem with it, but I don't use ultrasounds much. I would just go ahead and schedule all of the prenatal appointments so if she is pregnant she will have received all of the care that she needs. I would wait until 45 days to do an x-ray because any earlier can damage the potential puppies. Also, x-rays are not always accurate in the number of puppies, but they will give you a definitive yes if she is pregnant. My dog was x-rayed a week before her due date and you could see 3 skeletons, but she really had 4 puppies.

I would go for an x-ray, not an ultrasound. The x-ray will be able to pick up the bones and tell you exactly how many puppies you can expect.

You want it to be at least 4 weeks or more for an ultrasound. You'll be able to see the fetal sacs & heart beats better. Xrays should be done at 45 days or more. That way you'll be able to count the spines. Ultrasound is good for confirming pregnancy, but it is difficult to get an accurate count. Counting spines is more accurate.

No, I haven't experienced this. I get my dogs fixed. I'm not a breeder so I leave the breeding to them.
