My tooth is sensitive....slight throbbing. I have 2 wks before my appointment. In the meantime I'm concerned. Do I need a root canal or just a filling. It is not sensitive to heat, just to cold wind.... Please look at my last question.... I am hoping a dentist or endodontist can tell me. It is not senstive to tapping. What does it sounds like I will need done?

Only a dentist can determine that with an x ray. If you are having throbbing pain waking you up at night, then I would say you need a root canal. If it only throbs to air/cold, you might just need a restoration or filling. If you are concerned with the 2 week wait, call your dentist office and ask them to reappoint you for an earlier date. Good luck!

u said it's just sensitive to cold ...ok ....congratulation it's not an endodontic sign ((if it's the only symptom u have ))...an endodontic case manifested by sudden, strong, long duration pain (may last for 3 hours)...and it might wake u up in the middle of the night...if u don't have that so it's just a filling that u need....thank u and good luck.

Definently have a cavity and ned it fillled. Just ask them to check it and they'll tell you what you need. More than likely however, it's a filling. By the way, DON'T GET NUMMED, as they dont hurt.

you probably just need a filling. unless its been sore for a very long time then you would need a root canal
