There are many causes for constipation but if this is a short term thing try eating more fruits, grains and vegetables and drink LOTS of water. If you are not sick what usually happens is without fiber and water your system can't push the food you eat through the intestine which is basically a giant tube. If you are constipated for a long time you should see a doctor.

High fiber diet (lots of veggies and fruit) or supplement with Metamucil or one of those other fiber drinks/pills. Bran muffins, prunes, prune juice, figs...your doctor can give you more if you tell him you don't want to take meds! Also, make sure you drink your 8 glasses of water a day. Oh, and if you're only eating protein because you're on the Atkins diet or something, that would be the reason. Eat a balanced diet. And in regards to the answer suggesting more coffee: coffee is a diURetic, not diarretic. It makes you URinate and you want to get more water in your system, not less.

Fiber-rich diets promote organic, standard bowel elimination. Fiber rich ingredients contain vegetables like eco-friendly beans, carrots, peas, salads; also complete-wheat products, some end result, nuts, and beans. There are also countless ingredients that are marketed for his or her fiber content (cereals like FiberOne). Senna is a organic laxative and is provided in tea form... also in case you bypass to the save, they have teas that say "promotes standard bowel function." i'm not particular what varieties/flavors those are yet they are interior the organic and organic section at my food market. the different 2 maximum major things you may do are get adequate exercising and drink a lot of water. It would not should be complicated exercising, basically walking adequate. a minimum of two liters of water an afternoon (sixty 4 oz.) is a superb water intake objective.

1. Eat more fiber (oatmeal, celery, apples, etc.).
2. Drink LOTS more water
3. Exercise, especially your abdomen - waste moves through your intestines by the wave-like motion of your muscles, so the more you work yhour muscles, the easier it will be for your system to move it through.
4. Lay on your back and rub your abdomen COUNTERCLOCKWISE for 30-45 minutes each night before bed. This also will help the movement through the intestines.

Add walnuts or almonds to your cereal each morning. I usually add it to berry burst cherios or special K red berry. You might want to also try raw apple cider vinegar sold in the health food section of many grocery stores. You just add a few teaspoons to water or any drink (i use ice tea) and drink it before dinner. If constipation is bad, you may want to useit before lunch as well.

Drink heaps of water(3 - 5 litres/day) and go for walks, you should be alright in a few days

Fibre is very absorbant and if you dont have enough water it will set like concrete until enough water comes to soften it again

You need more ruffage in your diet. Eat broccoli, lettuce, a lot of green vegetables provide the body with the essentials your body needs to properly transport the wastes down and out.

Get more healthy oils in your diet. I eat about 8 black olives a day and that does it for me. Try cooking with olive oil more or sunflower oil. if you use salad dressing try to use a vinaigrette instead of a cream dressing and just find ways to put oil into your diet. It's healthy for you, essential for your heart and yummy! Oh, and it fixes your bathroom problems too :-)
