I live in a remote area without a car tonight I just wanted a quick fix not negative comments. I have six healthy dogs of my own, but not one so young. That is why this pup was brought to me. Of course, in the morning I will get him to a vet, I thought someone would be kind enough to give advise for the next few hours until I can get help. Please no more you shouldn't have dogs comments.

If you have dog food of any kind in your home then just wet it with warm water and the pup will eat that.If you think he's too young to eat, then make it watery and just nudge his mouth in it and when he gets a taste he will know what to do.If he has no teeth yet, then they will eat baby rice cereal.I fed one that for a while and the vet said she was healthy when we took her.Don't give her milk, that will give her a loose bowel movement.Good luck with her/him.....

Give him goats milk, it should be available at a grocery store or Walmart. That is what I use when I wean all my puppies, no need for some overpriced formula. It is weaning time anyway. After he has been drinking up the milk, grind up kibble in a food processor and slowly add it to the milk to make it thicker. In 1-2 weeks it should be a thick gruel, and then offer him kibble.

BUT, you are going to have to go to great lengths to make sure this pup is socialized properly. Pups that are not with their dam/littermates from 4-8 weeks have a very hard time interacting with other dogs and tend to develop temperament problems unless steps are taken to socialize them. They learn so much from the dam/littermates during that time. If you look at the dogwise website I'll bet there are books about raising an orphan.

If you cannot get to a store, try putting kibble in a food processor, it should be ground until it is sand like, and mixing it with water, it should be pretty runny. You can also add some plain or vanilla yoghurt (NOT fruit) or a little cottage cheese to make it taste better.

Mix up your own fomula:

10 oz. of canned evaporated milk or goat's milk (not pasteurized cow's milk - this will cause scowers - dogs cannot drink normal cow's milk) Goats milk is by far the best to use. Wall Mart sells it.

3 oz. sterilized water (baby water or boiled water) this is not needed if using goat's milk

1 raw egg yolk

1 cup of whole yogurt (avoid skim or fat free if at all possible)

1/2 Tsp Karo Syrup or Corn Syrup (NOT HONEY !!!)

Place ingredients in a blender and blend or use a wire whisk. Be careful to not over blend and create a milk shake full of bubbles and then tube bubbles into the puppy.

Keep cool and discard leftovers after 7 days.

He's also old enough to start on puppy food.

at 4 weeks..they still need their mothers milk....not able to take solids yet...PLEASE phone your emergency r.s.p.c.a. for advice if you are in the uk...what you do now will decide the future of this innocent little creature!...good on you for taking the pup.

if you are in the u.k. the phone number is 08705 555 999 - that is an emergency 24hour hot line...they will help you. (web address is www.rspca.org.uk)

they will give you all the help you need...and if you want...will probably come round to check out the puppy - for free. good luck to you...you sound like a nice person to take the pup into your home...i hope it all works out well and the puppy survives.

p.s....PLEASE report the person that took the pup from its mum at 4 weeks .... shame on them!!

What's the question? You can't get to a store to buy her food, then you should release her to the Humane Society or animal control so that she can be checked out and given the proper attention she deserves. Animal control will pick up a pet that you cannot care for, which is obviously that case here, otherwise you would find a way to get that puppy the proper nutrition it deserves.

No, you should not give your dog what you're eating. You will make her sick.

If you can only get to the store tomorrow, you can try feeding the puppy natural organic yougurt (no flavour) just for tonight and only a little bit.

If you are unable to take care of the puppy, take her to the nearest humane society or animal shelter.

Try a good puppy food {solid} put some warm water in it to soften it up!! He should be able to eat that! Check to see if he has any teeth. Can you go to a local vet and get some puppy milk? The softened dog food should work for now.Good Luck!!

If you can't get to the store, then you can't take the dog to a vet, and you shouldn't have a dog

Don't just feed any old food. Boil chicken and white rice. You can also use cottage cheese to help with the stomach.
