I have a 5 month old bichon/yorkie and a 4 month old maltese/yorkie. My borkie is housebroken, he never has an accident! He will go to the door and let us know. The morkie on the other hand will still slink off if we are not watching and go pottie!!! They both know the commands outside and will obey, but for some reason she still has accidents inside!!! Thankfully, they are getting fewer and far between, so I think we are just about thru this!!! I take them out just about every hour.

I'd say that after about 2 month I've got the dog going outside 90% of the time. But *totally* potty trained doesn't really happen until the dog is totally matured - about 2 years old. Just when you think you've got your dog totally trained, he/ she will prove you wrong!!

I have a German Rottweiler and I got her when she was under a month the people that had he took her from her mother to early:( But she was trained in less than a week:) Then I got a pitbull puppy not long after and she was about 2 months and it took her a couple days... You have to take them out regularly... Get them on a schedule:)

Still in the process of having my dog house trained. 2 months and counting, which isn't that bad because it can take up to 6 months for your dog to be house trained. So far for her she has one accident every couple of days. Takes up to 6-8 weeks with no accidents to consider your dog house trained. Good Luck

When my dog had an accidental litter of 4, all those puppies were housebroken by the time they were 2 months old. None of them went to their new homes, untrained.

It depends on the breed. If you are having a hard time, make sure it's a routine that the puppy can follow. And be sure to wait to play with him until he has gone to the bathroom.

I have a boxer, he had 1 accident, I pushed his nose in it, potted him and put him outside, told him to pee and poo poo outside. That is all it took. I also have 2 pomeranians, they were a little more hard headed, took them a little longer
