While hair color is an atribute that plays to the attracton of some men, it is not necessarily the hair color but rather the stereotypical blonde profile that is the consideration when guys cite the phrase you are refering to. And note I say guys, not gentlemen.
True gentlemen have physical trait preferences just like anyone else but they are weighed on a total set of attributes, mental, physical and emotional rather than on a few key traits commonly assosiated with "blondes", and by the way the stereotypical "blonde" refered to in the sentement doesn't have to have blond hair.
It is funny the perception and value some people put on physical traits, it is also funny the low level of mental thought people put into their comments before they say them. For example. If you were to have asked any of the people what they meant or to explain their comment they would have been taken back because they were just repeating things they had heard from others without much consideration for what it really meant.
Red hair, brown, blond, pink, blue or rainbow, really has very litle to do with the overall atractiveness or desireability of an individual. There are many famous beautiful redheads, as there are of other hair color. In fact beautiful redheads have a foot up on beautiful blonds because they don't have the stereotype to overcome.
Yes some guys prefer "blondes" or what the phrase stands for, but then some guys prefer guys to. Be confident in who you are, teach your daughter to value people for who they are not what they look like and don't worry about those peole who go through life with such superficial and meaningless standards as "Gentleman prefer Blonds...."

Actually at the moment I have a thing for short brunettes, go figure. Ive dated blonde's, brunettes and redheads. The only thing I can say that the redheads had in common was they were feminine but also very strong willed type of women, which would explain why I liked them in the first place, which sometimes can be seen as kind of bitchy/moody. That's probably what people were implying, that your daughter might be moody if she were a redhead. I don't think anyone meant anything bad by it, just kidding you more then likely.

Only at the strip clubs, love. The ultravoilet light makes them look sexy.
Edit: On reading your question and some of the answers properly, it actually seems like you are blaming womens facial unattractiveness unfairly on men and what hair colour they prefer.
The secret is, love, guys find a women with a pretty face attractive no matter what hair colour she has. Even if she was BALD, she'll be attractive to us.
Sure guys have a preferences (blonde, brown, black, straight, curly, long, short, etc) but it is really just a preference. The sad news is that most redheads are mingers, hence the stereotype.
So to reflect, it's not the hair colour girls. You'll have to come to terms with the fact that it just might be that you're not that good looking.
Sorry for being harsh, thanks for listening.

That's funny-I've heard nothing but good things about redheads.
A man's preference to a blonde-haired woman is the same as anyone's preference for anything. Some men prefer brunettes, and some prefer long hair to short and vice-versa. Some women prefer serious men over jovial men.
Don't let it worry you if you are.

I think it is personal preference. My boyfriend likes blondes....but I am a redhead (granted dyed). The 'ginger' phobia....mmmmmm......a lot of people seem to hate it....don't know why..... a lot of men LOVE Nicole Kidman.....but even she too seems to be swinging towards blonde at the moment. Blonde's stand out more, that may be a factor... but on the other hand there are men to who men brunettes...dark and sultry. I don't think it is a 'man' thing...my friend wouldn;t go out with dark haired guy...she loves blondes and blue eyes.....I on the other hand love dark hair and brown eyes....definitely not blondes andNOT blue eyes....so there you are....it's down to what turns you on. There are men who will go for anything...... and they're just hedging their bets !!! I think though there were some experiments on this back in the 70s and blue eyes (generally found with blonde hair)is classed as a stronger gene... so maybe there is something there to do with some underlying subconscious thing...but don;t quote me.

Depends on a lot of factors, such as region, population, etc. In places where there are few blondes they are held to be very attractive, but in places like LA or San Diego where every other girl is a blonde - well, then it becomes less attractive and more ordinary.
Personally I prefer hair that's dark red or raven black with blue or green eyes.

Me personally yes.
BUT i do find people without this hair colour very attractive.
Not every male is like this. Everyone has individual tastes, i know people who prefer brunettes and some who prefer redhead as well as some who like me do prefer blondes. So the simple answer is no gentlemen do not prefer blondes, everyone is different and beautiful for their own reasons.

i don't have a decision in hair colour. Blonde females are rarer than brunettes when you consider that blonde hair is a recessive trait. If organic blondes are proper for this trait on my own and if by using gents, you advise a state-of-the-paintings or severe-status guy, then i could see how this truth is sensible. it may look like a superficial reason to %. a mate in accordance with hair colour, yet i'm assuming that a gents would have his determination of many alternative pleasing females.

I personally prefer blondes and brunettes,as opposed to red- because it reminds me of me Irish mam. Shudder!!!
I heard gingers are fire-crotches too- in that they heat build-up & consequent flaming of the groin.
I think people have a mindset that he'll (you boy) look too Celtic which was historically considered undesirable.
I know some girls don't like a ginger because the hate the red man-hairs.
I also know some ginger people who hate their skin because it is very fair and sensitive to sun-damage- such as freckling, burning & spotting.
So maybe it's a combo of hating yer Celtic mothers, not wanting a Celtic kiddlywink and sun damage.
I don't know- all I know is I just don't want to put up with Celtic-style nagging.
But judging by your pic, I'd definitely date someone half as pretty as you, love...

I'm a brunette man all the way - just never found blondes attractive. If an "gorgeous" blonde walks into a room I think a dime a dozen. If an attractive, mysterious brunette with long hair walks into a room time stops...
