I went out with this woman about 3 months ago. She said she couldn't date because she just had a bad breakup (this jackass basically started stalking her afterwards). I said no problem we can be friends anyway. About a month down the road we start going out to parties together and just when I thought we might start dating she came back with the same response. She still contended that she was attracted to me, but not ready to "get romantic." Over the last few weeks she has been texting me and she invited me out to lunch today. I arrived at her office to catch her checking out her ex's facebook page. I'm sorry but I don't understand. Does this make any sense to anyone?

Yes, it makes sense. She knows that she is not completely over her ex. She wants to move on but she isn't ready for a relationship. This is going to take some time. You can always so no when she asks.
At least she didn't complicate things by being your girlfriend while she is on the rebound. And you dont want to be the rebound guy.

Sure. Human dislike change. Even in an uncomfortable or difficult situation, humans will be reluctant to change. (Ever notice how many abused folk remain in the abusive relationship?)
Your female friend like you well enough because you're harmless. However, you are not familiar. Her ex is threatening, but familiar. Now you know which she prefers.
And I would hope that you also now know what your choice should be.

She was probably looking at the EX because women have a need to know. As for the 2 of you, find someone else, she's probably not ready for anything and you shouldn't wait around.

some times we never get over our first love even if they hurt you.
she needs time so be her friend .
I WOULD RATHER BE A FRIEND THEN an ex.
spend time with her and let her know how you feel but don't push it she will say if she wants more .
If you cant be just a friend then you don't really care about her maybe she doesn't want to loose you as a friend and if you rush in to love it can destroy a friend ship.
WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT TO YOU TO DATE HER OR BE WITH HER.
tell her best friend how you feel and see what they say.

Of course it makes sense...us girls are so wishy washy. We never know what we want. My advice would be to ask yourself "is this girl really worth it". If the answer is no then let her go and if the answer is yes continue to persue her. Good luck.

Its not that she wasn't ready to commit to you it was the fact that she wasn't over her ex, and she probably made up the story about him stocking her just to talk about him....... I know someone who has done this to a guy.
