I am considering purchasing cell phones for my soon to be 9 yr olds, which ones are good and equipped w/ gps? verizons plan sounds expensive!

I agree about the age, I'm mostly interested for the tracking system-God forbid something bad was to happen to them, then at least we could track their location

DISNEY compant made a cell phone that is made for kids to have where the have all capabilities as other cell phone users but you also get a cell phone that just has a GPS tracking system, with a map and everything

Well I don't think any are good. You know, I am 27 and I didn't have a cell phone until I was 18. I survived all those years without one. I don't think kids need them until they can pay for them themselves. If you did want to get a phone, get the go phone or there is another one, but I can't remember the name of it. You can only program up to I think 5 numbers on them. Those are the only numbers they can call. Otherwise, your kids could learn at 9yrs. old to hide things from you by talking about it on the phone when you're not around. Not good. Just my opinion.

Why do they need a cell phone at 9 years old? I wouldn't get them one, they are too young. I had to wait until I was 14 to get mine and that was because I would be driving by myself soon and for emergency purposes when I was driving. 9 years old, they don't need cell phones they are not even in middle school yet. What could they possibly do that they would have a need for a cell phone?

My 9 year old just got a cell phone although I honestly don't see any reasons for her to need it. To answer your question, try buying Pay as you Go cell phone for an average of $20 or consider the "Firefly."

9 year olds dont need cell phones they you to be there for them with your time not with a toy.

disney mobile it has gps to track them and parental controls like phone usage that can be controled from your pc
