First I have to qualify to adopt, I don't, & also pay $200 before they will let me even see him. I had him 4 years before he was stolen, I've been devastated. I'm almost positive, from the pic's that it is my Wylie. It was just a fluke that I came upon him. Just poking around, not really trying to find him after all this time. I'm not possessed, it just happened and now I want my baby back somehow. The $200 is not a problem if it is him, but they want it up front. Thats not right. Any advice? They say there are others trying to adopt him, then it will be too late. He's a min pin. I'm old and he's all I had, please help, and hurry.

I don't qualify to adopt him because I didn"t get his last set of shots. I couldn't afford them & had no transportation. It is wrong of me, I know, but just seemed to happen that way. Boy, do I regret it now. Also, only have 1 pic of him when he was a puppy. I don't have a camera. He was otherwise well fed, much loved & basically spoiled. I bought him as a puppy. At the time, I had more money but since have gone on disability.

They want $200.00 just to let you see him?? What doesn't sound right. Did they say why you would have to pay to simply lays your eyes upon him? I've never heard of such a thing before. Is he a fairy? Can he grant wishes? Does he lay golden eggs? Seriously, you shouldn't have to pay to look at a dog...

They are right to deny you. There is NO way for them to tell for sure that that is your dog unless it is microchipped. Do you have any idea how many dogs look the same? This is the exact reason that animals should be licensed, tagged, and MICROCHIPPED. For about $40 for the chip, you'd have saved all this aggravation.

Don't even bother trying to pursue it. Shelters have the right to deny anyone an animal at any point for any reason. I know this first hand. And if you failed to get the animal his shots, there is no way they are ever going to give you that dog, or any other dog for that matter as you neglected basic care of your prior pet. Shots are a MUST and rabies are MANDATORY by law. So unfortunately you are not considered a good candidate for adoption, even if you could prove this was your dog. Which you CANNOT without a microchip. Vet records and photos will not work, they can be easily falsified.

Even you aren't sure it's your dog...you said "I'm almost certain it's my Wylie". What if it's not...

You also can't file a missing dog report a year and a half after the dog went missing. If it wasn't filed immediately after, then the police will assume you are up to something.

Just give the whole thing up. You won't get this dog.

That sounds bad, who had your dog for so long? Ask them who turned him in, maybe you can get the police involved,if he was stolen. If he's almost 6 years old why would they charge so much? They sound like a pitiful shelter. At other shelter when you pay and it doesn't work out, you can bring them back, no questions asked.I really don't think that that is your Wylie---go somewhere else and another dog.He will not be the same dog of 11/2 years ago.......

It's not right that you have to pay before you can see him. What if its not him? unless you have some proof that it was your dog, like a chip number, I don't know how u could prove it though.
I hope u can get him back. It sounds like they just want the money. I would report them to the county or where ever they are
licensed by for demanding the money. But they might actually have the right to qualify u for adoption. Why don't u qualify?

Just an idea-
What if you were to file a theft report with the police on the dog? And then have the police help you follow up on the case?

you could then *threaten* to file charges against the organization for dealing in stolen property. I presume that you have evidence, such as photographs, dog license, vet records.

What is the name of this "rescue organization"? This sounds completely outrageous. I would be very, very careful. Maybe you could contact the local humane society and they could let you know if there have been any issues with this society. Also, if you could, take the $200 and DON'T give it to them, but show it to them and let them know that you have the money...they can have it if it really is your dog. Also if you have pictures of the dog (especially with you in the pictures) that would go far in your case. Regardless, don't go to these guys alone. I think that they are trying to scam you and you should be very wary.

Show them vet records and pictures of the dog. If you can show proof that the dog is yours, they can't really refuse to give him back to you. They can pay boarding fees n' such.
