Yes, Tank deserves his place in the Hall of Fame though not because of his record in the cage. It was fighters such as this that were the original impetus behind the whole cage fighting concept, street brawlers and pit fighters duking it out in unsanctioned, no holds barred fights. Of course these fights involved extreme brutality and more than a fair share of betting but there are few underground sports that can truly compare to it.

And therein should lie the reason for Tank's induction as there would be no UFC if such men didn't pave the way. Sure, we might have various forms of MMA type action but you can bet your bottom dollar it would be a much watered down version, one with too many rules and breaks in action or in plainer speak BORING! Would you watch it? Sure, for just long enough to decide that there's something better on such as Figure Skating or perhaps the National Spelling Bee.

So that's my stand on the question. Tank Abbott deserves to be recognized as one of the pioneers in this sport and as such the respect that goes with it. Hell, he's sure earned it in my eyes!

Tank Abbott is like the Mick Foley of the UFC, he is charismatic as well as a brawler. With his buzz cut hairdo and his many, many missing teeth, he is a well known UFC image simply because he is what he is. As well as hall of fame material I would have to say no.

Abbott has fought some tough fights, and is probably one tough s.o.b. out on the street, but in comparison to Randy Couture, Royce Gracie and Tim Sylvia just to name a few, Abbott is not in their league as far as hall of fame material.

His record is 9-12 which is not really hall of fame material either. Abbott did bench press 600 pounds and recorded it on tape though back in 2003, thats got to be worth something:)

No Way! Abbott only had a record of 8-10 in the UFC, and never won a world title. He will always be remembered, but Dan Severn, Oleg Taktarov, Don Frey, Maurice Smith all defeated him - He was a good brawler, but never did well once on the mat.

No tank was street brauler and nothing more, he didn't train anything except boxing and didn't even bother to get in shape, he was seen at the bar the night before several fights. He had no discipline and he sucks. He only looking good when it was martial art vs martial art. Hell even Kimbo Slice could kick his *** and he's just a street fighter too. (youtube kimbo if you don't know who he is)

Tank Abbott is like Jim "the Anvil" Neid Hart.....Pretty unpopular becasue he gets beat up so often. If he makes it, then Cabbage should make it, Kimo, and all the others who have beaten him silly. Oh, and his bench press was not legit. IT BOUNCED OFF HIS CHEST

Of both, i'd %. "poor fighter". only because "surprising fighter" would not slot to boot. He had some boxing and wrestling coaching. His scuffling with style wasn't that "different", and the in trouble-free words reason it grow to be triumphant grow to be that the lads he grow to be possessing did not recognize the thanks to really strive against. every time he confronted someone with any capacity (Don Frye, Oleg Taktarov, Dan Severn, and so on) he lost, badly. He gained in the early days because infrequently all and sundry educated effectively, and he grow to be a huge dude who could hit puzzling. efficient? little question. surprising? no longer even close.

No. If you are basing it on actual good fighters then no. He came in early when the talent base was alot more shallow. I just don't think his skills were worthy of remembering. He was more a side show act.
