wow yes i totally agree with everything you said, hard work is good, and disrespect, stealing and raping is bad however let me offer you my own perspective.
i am currently going to school at Fort Lewis College in Durango Colorado. our school offers free tuition to those of native american descent. i have many friends who are navajo, some who are southern ute, one who is chocktaw, and none of them have a problem with white americans. (the original western aliens)
i work during summers for a roofing company that hires many illegal mexicans. most of these men i work with are good, hardworking men, bent on learning english (always asking me "como se dice en ingles este") and making a life for their families outside of the hellhole that is modern mexico.
there are also those paisis that have no respect for america and americans. but i have seen these in the minority, and they never are very succesful or happy.
my best friend just got back from two years in iraq fighting a people who have nothing but hatred for america.
why don't you step out of your bubble??

You look at the smallest portion of the group and think that represents all of them. Timothy McVeigh was a terrorist killer and American, does that make you one too? Of course not. Don't lump together all Mexicans either.
The vast majority of the immigrants (both legal and illegal) are here solely to work to survive. They aren't looking for handouts, just a chance to live. And before you start with all the foolishness about welfare and such; they don't use it. They don't want to be on a government list that gets checked all the time (out of fear they may be found out as illegal and deported--the absolute last thing they want done).
There have been practically no lawsuits (and no lawyer would take a chance unless they had a case, which means the gov't may be going against its own constitution--who'd have guessed this gov't might think itself above the law?). There have been a couple who may have done some crime (even rape), but not all of them and not even the majority. In fact, it is something like just under 1% of them. You want to blame all of them, go ahead. But then you and I should be going to jail also for rape because there has been at least one American who has raped someone also. If the "one is guilty so all are guilty" standard is good enough for the humans of Mexican descent, it is good enough for the humans of American descent.
If we became more accepting of them and work with them rather than send them back to where there is no economic chance to survive (they would literally die of starvation--not figuratively, in actuality--if they were sent back and were forced to stay), they wouldn't have to steal the cards. Or if more importantly we worked with the Mexican government to jumpstart their economy (rather than Bush's plan which has been to support the party that thinks like him and was the party that ran their economy into the ground in the first place) they wouldn't need to come over to survive.
And not one has burned the American flag. They may hold their own flag up beside (not above) the American flag, but it is to show pride in themselves and a want to support America, not destroy America. I would argue that the one time they attempted to do something American (protest a wrong done to them by the government), most of America cracked down and tried to crush them. What sounds more American to you, exercising freedom of speech to get better for everyone (since Mexican immigrants have now become necessary to the economy), or brutally crushing someone trying to speak their mind?
So when you talk about what your family has fought for with pride, I agree you should be proud of them. But the last thing you should do is try to take it away from others (which would make your family's sacrifice a vain one). Your family fought to make the world better for humanity, now it is your chance to do the same. Fight for equality among all humans, don't try to destroy it for everyone but the select few.

and we are back to this again. well if you wish to go there then fine by me. as i have stated time and time again do not bundle up a single group of people into a category and label them all together. and by that I mean that not all illegals come to the U.S and steal ID's,burn flags (wich btw it was an anti immigrant who first burned a mexican flag) and ask for handouts. as long as there are free handouts given out there will always be selfish people who take advantage of it regardles if they are legal or not. My parents arrive in the U.S illegal when i was 10 months old. they never once received any type of welfare and worked hard to get whatever they wish to get. taxes which they couldn't reclaim on income tax were taken from their paycheck stubs every two weeks they got paid. they didn't have anymore children because they knew they couldn't afford to give them a good life. They put all their hard work and energy in making sure that i had food, shelter, clothes and a proper education. In the school i attended throughout all my life i was around kids who's mothers got welfare and drove fancy cars and guess what they were all legal. Once amnesty was granted and we all obtained citizenship none of what we were doing changed. We still work hard and tax money still gets taken out of our paychecks to support all the legal and illegal mothers who are too lazy to work. and just like myself i believe there are a lot of other illegal families who work hard but get all bunched into a category by people like you. and what offends me is that people like you feel they are better than them because your legal.

Hmmm.
Look at it from their side:
Illegals are wooed here by big corporations promising great pay, great working conditions, and limitless opportunities. These companies tell them that US workers are lazy, stupid, and shiftless.
Then, once they arrive, they find that they are being exploited, so they try as hard as possible to better their condition in any way they can. The average illegal immigrant works at below minimum wage in horrible conditions for less than a year. Then they are looking for the same things the rest of us want.
So the corporations seek out new illegal immigrant recruits.
When we turn off the demand, the flow of illegal immigrants will stop.

Just so people don't get confused - the vast majority of immigrant workers in this country are here LEGALLY. There are some that are here illegally and there is just a small percentage of those that fit the description you just gave so - please don't paint all immigrants with the same brush.
Lest we forget...other than the Native American - our ancesters were all immigrants at one time or other. Some of them - mine included did not even speak the language. They spoke Danish and French but not English. My mother's parents never really learned english -they only ever spoke french.

You need to take a history lesson and realize that so called "Americans" didn't exactly come here legally. Not only did they rape and murder the Indians and force them into reservations, they brought over disease and their very stuck up superiority complex.

Well, yes.......you are very very different.....close to 'odd', actually.
Most thinking people don't generalize like you do.
You're using this "immigration issue" to promote racism and hatred.
2 years ago Immigration didn't even cross your mind, did it?
You should really do something about that big "L" on your forehead.

Wranglergirl: How many times do I tell you to stop putting every illegal in the same category. You are complaining but yet you were just saying on your other posts you were going to watch tv. So obviously you don't have a job. Yes, I'm working right now. I work for a family owned business and do what I want. Besides Americans don't rape people or murder people? Give me a break. Americans are perfect right? Everyone sues. Quit judging a book by it's cover!!!

What does it mean to be American? A document that says you are, or living here? Now granted, we have laws that aren't enforced to deal with illegals, but paperwork doesn't make you American.
