He/she refuses to recognize the US Southwest. They either refer to it as "occupied Mexico" or they have fictional names and shapes of "Mexican" states that they feel would have been there, as though they actually exist. They refer to all cities there by their own Spanish terms. They get mad at you if you say "Phoenix, Arizona" instead of "La Capaz, Yucato" or whatever the heck Spanish words they might come up with.
Any suggestions?

You can say, "look, the history of the world is a story of conquest. It's an ugly history, but it's a fact of life. If we start with this stuff, how far back should we go?
Should the US return all of its land to England or to Native Americans?
Should the Turks return Istanbul to the Byzantine Empire?
Australia - Aborigines?
Alaska back to Russia?
Europe all back to Ancient Greece?"
On and on.
Now, it is a fact that the annexation of Texas and the southwest in the war with Mexico was a raw land grab, nothing more. It was unjust and the reasons given for war were a joke. Many Americans refused to pay taxes at the time because the war was so clearly unjust.
That's the way the cookie crumbles, I'm afraid. All we can do is resolve not to do it again, not to allow it to happen again.
Unfortunately, what's going on in Iraq right now is not a good way to make amends.

I would ignore them,because I know the truth and deep down so do they.They are working way too hard at it for them to really believe their own rhetoric.I live in Scottsdale AZ send them to me and I can show them the true history and not wishful dreams of Aztlan....There is no OZ its just a myth,a fallacy's just like the persons ideas on the American southwest..

Since most cities and states have Spanish names...California, Colorado, Los Angeles, San Francisco...I guess you just need to deal with it, or learn Spanish.

Stop talking to him/her. There's nothing you can do to convince the ignorant and obnoxious so don't waste your time...except reporting them to US immigration if he/she is illegal.
