Sounds like my dog. Next time he pees on the carpet take him DIRECTLY outside to do his business, give him a treat when he does and once he does go outside and not inside often, then stop giving him treats. Or take him outside before he is about to go and tell him to " Potty". When he does reward with treat, when he doesn't, put him in a kennel if you have one, you need one for that. It'll teach him that he gets less...less.and even more less freedom everytime he do0esn't go "Potty" outside. He'll learn, eventually.

If this is your kid I think it might be a problem and with him lifting his leg I would have to say a bit odd as well. And instead of making him Pee outside try to teach him to use the toilet. If this is a dog make sure he sees what he did by either pointing his face toward the mess. Do not rub his face in it that would just be nasty but make sure he knows what you are upset about. Then smack something that will make noise but will not hurt him like a paper that makes a smack noise when you hit your hand and do it close to him. When ever he pees outside give him a treat. He will rather have a treat then hear a loud noise. I have had a lot of smart dogs and actually hurting them is not a way to train them but some times to make a point a quick somewhat loud noise is a good way to show you do not like what they did. I emphasize do not do anything that will hurt him.

Did anything change in the environment? He many be feeling that he needs to remark his territory. Does it seem to hurt when he goes? He might have a problem, in which case you need to go to a vet. Is he going in corners behind stuff? He might be afraid to go outside for some reason and he's doing it behind things because he knows he's not supposed to do it.

I recommend a clean with enzymes in it. Like Simple Solution...it help eat away at the bacteria so the dog doesn't feel they he needs to remark the spot.

If he's a dog you've owned for some time and was potty trained...take him to the vet to make sure he doesn't have an infection or other illness.

If he is new or other changes have occurred in your home..restart potty training after thoroughly cleaning previous stains with cleaned designed to break down enzymes.

Go to the vet! This very thing happened to me, and it was a uriniary tract infection, or something like that. Either way it's totally treatable with anti-biotics, but letting it go on will just frustate you. Take your baby to the vet!! :-)

GOOD LUCK!

I think he is already too old (NOT THAT HE IS OLD) to hold it or if one time he holded it for a long time, that he can't hold it no more.
