They should stop when the bills are paid. If the bills are paid and they don't stop, that is illegal and harassment. You should contact a financial debt adviser. They can help you plan a way out of debt. They will also help you contact those to whom you owe money. I found that if you talk with them, they will work with you. Just don't lie to them or try to get out of paying what you honestly owe. They want your money. They will wait a little while to get it. Talk with an adviser. In some cases the adviser will contact the agencies on your behalf.

Yup, as soon as you pay your bills.
If you set up and keep a reasonable payment plan with each of your creditors you put off paying, the calls will stop. You'll also have the great feeling of satisfaction of knowing that you're doing the right thing and honest thing and taking care of your responsibilities.

It's withing your rights to stop any and all collection calls instantly! Simply write them what is called a "cease and desist" letter. One sentence:
"According to the Fair Credit Report Act I am charging you to stop contacting me about this debt in any way, shape or form."
That's it. This stops ALL phone calls and ALL letters! They can only contact you again to tell you they are going to sue you.
