When he wakes up he crys untill he can play and does't have to stay in bed. Last night he got out of bed when we were asleep and got into my lotion and made a huge mess on the carpet. Help! Have no idea what to do and I am getting tired. thanks.

seems like he has his days and nites confused.. my daughter snuck out of bed and dressed herself up when we were all asleep.. then i put a baby monitor back into her room to listen to her when she would wake up. we would strain her thru the day and not let her take a nap for like a week til she was able to almost pass out.. kept her up late.. as well.. so when it was bed time.. she would pass out.. also gave her extra warm bath and soothing lotion before bedtime.. (that might help with the lotion thing.. do it with him) then when the time came.. she couldnt hold her head up or eyes open.. worked for me.. cept mine was much worse.. she would destroy things in middle of nite.. good luck and you will laff about it later.. i promise.. :D

Let him cry! Eventually, he'll tire himself out, and go back to sleep.

Don't let him play, whatever you do...this will only reinforce that he can get his way by keeping you awake.

I might also recommend waking him up earlier in the morning than you have been. Perhaps he's getting "too much" sleep, and needs to have his cycle adjusted. Limiting how late he can sleep in will help him be sleepier in the middle of the night.
