There are more ignorant remarks made in the Bible than in any other piece of literature I have ever read, and I have read a lot. There is a tone to it, a condescending, judgemental tone, and it's in what Jesus is written to have said too. If you really read that book, look at what it is actually saying. It is the reason why some Christians rejoice in the idea of their fellow man roasting in Hell. They feel that way for a reason, and Jesus is that reason.

I don't quite follow your story, but you're right that Christians should not take pleasure in someone's bad fate, but it's also not a sin to insult a Christian in particular (since Christians didn't exist in the Bible times). Jesus said it's a sin to hate, that's just as bad as killing. And that's indifferent to religion, gender, or how much you think they are going to hell.

We'll if that Christian is offended then in that manner he or she can witness to others by showing what a Christian would be like when they are offended. It doesn't say in the Bible that to insult a Christian is a sin. You can read that in the Gospels of the New Testament that even Jesus Christ Himself has insulted Peter.

first of all lets put this question in the right context. One christian is not the sum of all christians.

A christian who takes pleasure in saying or feeling that someone is going to hell missed the point about why Jesus was born and what God's desire is

God's desire is that no one goes to hell. But he did give us choice. His desire is that we all have eternal life and go back to the state of spirituality that we were before Adam and Eve ate the apple.

You're right, we should be like Jesus. I'm sure Jesus doesn't take any pleasure in the thought of someone going to hell. This is not taught in Christian doctrine. Don't judge all groups by one bad experience.

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but no one, and I do mean no one has the right to condemn anyone else to hell. Judgement alone is Gods, and only he knows the intent of a persons heart. Hell means something different to everybody anyway, but those so called Christians who get delight out of the thought that someone/anyone would go to a fictitious hell and burn forever (a hell like that just does not exist) is as mean and cruel as the god they worship, and they have no truth or light in them.

I don't know any Christians who take pleasure in thought of anyone going to hell. Makes me wonder how & where you're getting your information. As far as what the Bible says, Jesus told His disciples that since the world hates Him, they will hate His followers as well.

there were no christians in the bible untill after Jesus' death and I am sure many offended them including Paul beforeJesus sought him. we are all only human and so will have human reactions even if we know they are not right. I think warning some one they could go to hell if they don't change their manner and accept Jesus is not wrong. It is the truth as far as we read the bible so you should not take offence.

Most Christians don't take pleasure in the thought of anyone going to hell, but if we try to offer you salvation through Jesus you don't want that and you continually belittle and blaspheme what we believe in. So what's up? The bible states that non-believers will go to hell (we didn't think it up). so get yourself straight ( while your are complaining)...p.s why don't you try reading the bible to answer your own questions( in all your getting, get understanding)..peace soulsista

Timothy S. said "Taking pleasure in the thought that someone is going to hell is in itself sick...."

You may be surprised that God himself agrees with you. The idea of a torturous place of torment never has eventered his heart or his mind. For example in Jeremiah 7:31, in speaking of those who made their children pass through the fire, Jehovah said: "And they have built the high places of To´pheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hin´nom, in order to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, a thing that I had not commanded and that had not come up into my heart."

There are other similar passages that shows how he feels about that.

It is not a particular sin to insult us; we expect it.

Side note for Anya & Zap:

Christians ARE mentioned in the Bible in the following passages:
Acts 11:26; 26:28; and 1Peter 4:16.
