Cops? Put up a fence? Carry a bat? I love animals but if a dog -no matter what the breed were trying to attack me and I couldn't escape I'd use anything I had to beat the dog senseless. I don't care, I will not stand by and let some unruley dog maul me to death. Calling the cops would be best, or animal control. Call AC and say that the dogs are mistreated by the owners and are a threat to you and your family. You have reason to believe that they may attack. They'll do something. If they do follow through the owners may get charged w. animal crulety and the dogs may be taken away. Good Luck!

Call your local sherriff department and file a complaint. It is unfortunetely sad but most states will do nothing about such dogs until it is too late and they bite or even worse, maul someone. You may also contact your local stray-animals agency however, I don't know which state you live in so you will have to find that number yourself. I once called about a stray dog that I knew belonged to my neighbor and they took him away and made the owner deal with the legal work. You should also state you observed "vicious" behavior and it's an emergency. Don't put your kids at risk. You hear these stories in the news everyday...

Any dog that is not trained and unsocialized are dangerous. It is owner like these that give the rest of us who train your pit bulls a hard time. Call the police and make a complaint. Carry pepper gas. Make someone enforce the laws.

Do youre neighbors have a wire fences front of their yards ? if they do then dont worrying about so much if they can jump out the fences then dont have youre kids play out side have them play inside the house or out side backyard instead so they can be safe place. i dont think the human society or the state law can do anything much about it cause if you had any prove that youre neighbors dogs even had harm , bitting youre kids before or done anything else then you can have the human society or state law do something about it by takeing the pits bulls away. but you can also ask youre nighbors if they will put their dogs inside or in the back yard where they cant get out .

I have owned ‘scary’ dogs for twenty years, and have always maintained complete control over the animals. I do whatever it takes.
It burns my *** when people let their dogs run loose. People like that make hard for the rest of us.
Other than talking to the neighbor and let them know about your concern, and keep calling the authorities, there is not much more that you can do. Unless.
It is a little extreme, but I did do this once to resolve the same problem you are having
It was a last resort:
I called the neighbor and asked him to please remove his dead dogs carcass from my yard, and gave him a bill for the bullet.

Your concerns are well founded and if your neighbors are not being respectful of you and your family then they along with thier pitbulls must die long slow painfull deaths . I myself have never had occasion to take a human or a dogs life but I know dees mooks from da city an for tree grand dey can solve all your problems . Im just kidding but for real your municipality should have regulations regarding these and other high risk pets perhaps a letter to your alderman or counsil member might get some action taken

first off, where did they let the dogs out to? in their yard? or in a public area?
if its their yard you cant do anything. if its a public area, call the cops and they will most likely be fined because of leash laws. if they snap at your or the children call again and report a vicious dog and give them the cercomstances. if they get a few calls they will be forced to take action.
and dont just judge them because they are pitts, some pitts are the sweetest in the world and would never hurt anyone. these dogs may just be protecting their territory, especially if they are in their own yard.
just tell your kids to stay away from them if you are that worried, and tell them that they need to control their dogs or they will be reported again

First you can attend an animal care class with your children to teach them how to respond to dogs. you must realize that not all dogs from a breed are dangerous the owner create dangerous dogs. Many "Pitbulls" are large breeds which have been associated with dog on human attacks, but there is no single breed called a "Pit bull" the term is used to refer to various breeds that have been associated with the now illegal sport of pitting dog against dog in a fight. Yes there may be a breed called the american bull terrier which at one time was called the American pit bull terrier, by some people. This is not the breed most associated with "pit bulls" and legal bands across the United States have been over turned or rendered usless due to this fact.
educate your self on animal care and how to respond to aggressive dogs. and then teach your children how to respond. and fear is not a good response to even good natured dogs. and as Cesar Millan might say calm assertive energy is the best response to maintain, with an agressive dog. As I would say calm confidence, I have never been bitten by a strange dog. though I have been bitten by both dogs and cats due to my occupation, as a kennel worker, or animal care specilaist for the US Army. mostly because I had to do something to the animal or withthe animal in a fearfull state. no aggressive dog has ever bitten me as of to day. and I have delt with as many as twenty to thirty dog which I would consider dangerous or untrained animals. in the various animal care specialties I have worked in.
the method of trying to get your neighbors dogs taken away from them will only make you enemies with someone you should be freinds or at least freindly associates with.
educate yourself, then you may be able to educate your neighbor, children, freinds and any one on the proper responce to agressive dogs.
there are classes, which mailpeople are given in some areas which teach them how to respond to dogs, some of these are very effective in reducing the number of bites mail carriers have gotten from family dogs.
My suggestion is to first talk to your neighbor about your fear of his dogs and then find out how to work through the problem together. there are limits to the laws and powers give to humane officers and police officers. the continued complaints can needed to address the problem may need to come from other people than you, to have legal substance. if the dogs may not be addressed by the laws until someone is bitten. regretably the laws are written to protect law abiding people on both sides.

I would keep calling until something more was done about it. I was bit by an untrained dog when I was 7, 15 stitches. Do not let them get away with this.

Hey, if you have to fudge a bit by saying the to the cops that the dogs are charging you, I say go for it. You have the right to expect to be safe from neighbor dogs on your street. People who simply let their dogs run free in the neighborhood have no consideration for the other people around them, and should be punished. In most towns and cities, it is illegal to let your dogs roam the streets off-leash , especially without supervision.
Personally, I carry a bullwhip with me, and I'm an expert at using it. One good pop from that thing will scare off any dog. I see many older folks carrying a golf club to use against dogs (or muggers), but doing that could get you in trouble with the cops, as it would be seen as a weapon. A whip still falls outside the weapon category in most states.
That's why we have backyards, so you can let your dogs and kids play in safety and privacy.
