Water colour is an easy medium once you get the hang of it. You must have a sponge to sop up the extra water on a special paper designed for water color.

Unlike regular paints, such as Oils and or Temperas... Water colour is a much lighter medium and you have to apply the lightest colour first, before you begin to add any shading. The darkest colours are to be added last.

Get a DVD or Video on water colour lessons and watch it over and over again. Once you get the hang of it, you can make pretty much, very straight forward pictures of land scapes and flowers to start.

After that, go for images of people in the park or with their animals and such.

It really is a beautiful medium to work with, see examples at the link, below:

use watercolor paper. make sure it is stretched out flat. (get a book if you dont know what I mean) use good quality water colors- proffessional ones. use a good brush that holds the paint well....otherwise it is like dropping the paint out of an eyedropper. and use less water... you can use a hair dryer to dry areas faster if you need to.. to keep an area really clean...the person above is describing a product called Miskit. It is a liquid masking medium that dries and then rubs off when you are ready

Ok here's the best advice use a cold press paper designed for watercolors....300 lb cold press or higher...or by what is called a watercolor block...it's a block of watercolor paper...you simply remove the top piece from the block with a knife or razor blade
Darche's is the Cadillac of watercolor paper. You can also use individual sheets of watercolor paper ...strathmore sells it water color paper by the sheets...you can cut it down to any dimension.
You can also use illustration board as long as it is water color compatible. on the sheets after cutting them to required size you can tape them down to a drawing board using Scotch blue quick release tape...this will give you a hard white border around your artwork.... Watercolor is the hardest paint medium to master... a lot of people try it thinking it's easy.Remember that watercolor will not work on photos or any gloss surface...and watercolor is the application of light washes of color placed on top of each other...you start from light to dark and use the white area of the paper for your lights...avoid using white...unless it's to highlight overdone areas... Windsor newton is the best source of literature on watercolors....literature and product.... a great book to start with is "ART SCHOOL- HOW TO PAINT AND DRAW" by Hazel Harrison and is available at borders for $5.99 ...BORDERS has a great supply of bargain books on the subject....great luck!

you want a watercolor palete. First you position some paint, each and each in its own compartment in the palete. go away it dry for a pair of days. even as blending you paint you should apply the dried paint on your palete. also, even as blending paint the substantial ingrediant must be water. Watercolor is meant to be clear. frequently you do not paint over one colour with yet another. i favor to apply a dropper to get small swimming pools of water for blending my hues. it truly is puzzling to provide this kind of assistance in writing. i imagine you should take a mode in watercolor.
