Two brothers prosecuted for letting their dog get fat! I see less attention paid to children. Has the RSPCA gone bonkers?
Should I take my wife to court for feeding me too much?
You try calling out the RSPCA if you have a problem. Nine times out of ten they don't want to know. There was a time when you put a few pounds in the donations box to cover treatment for animals that were suffering. It can be hundreds of pounds now to get basic operations for your pets. Get real RSPCA and start doing some real sick animal care, instead of seeking publicity for your failing charity.

I am with you, never heard about the cat thing.

As for the dog - the lawyers were the real winners.

The owners and the tax payers were the losers.

what they should have done is spend some time with the owners and EDUCATED them, and kept an eye,

plenty of people volunteer for the RSPCA - they had the resources.

by their logic guardians and parents ought to prosecuted for letting their children get fat.

So, whats the actual question? What do you mean when you say a 2000 pound fine for mending a cats broken leg? Those two brother should have been prosecuted for keeping their dog overweight - maybe they refused to put their dog on a diet recommend by the vet. If your wife is feeding you too must, just eat less. That's your doing there. If the RSPCA is not responding to calls then there's a problem that needs to be addressed. I can understand if there's only one agent for the entire area, like where I live, not being able to get to all the calls in a timely manor. But if they're just not showing up because they don't want to know what the problem is, then it's time to get some new agents who care. Medical care can be quite expensive for animals, just like humans. Places like the RSPCA do rely on donations as well as volunteers to make things run. Instead of complaining, go to your local RSPCA and volunteer to help and you'll see why its so expensive and that they do care for "real" sick animals. They just don't take care of the sick and injured, they have to care for the unwanted and recovering. All that takes money. Why not donate some cat litter, cat food or dog food. I'm sure it's also needed. As for your last statement, they are being real in the fact that most of their employees do care and seeking publicity is one of the ways to get donations. If they are failing, then its only due to people with your attitude that don't understand what the RSPCA and other charities like them are about. Lastly, if you think that the animals are getting more attention then the children, then it's time to get off the soapbox and put your money, time and caring where your "mouth" is and something to help the children too.

I dont know about the cat thing but.. the overfed dog. well the owners are responsible for the welfare and safebeing of the animal and i do belive that it was to an extent where the animal was in a serious condition.. so yep prosecute away ..

Couldn't possibly agree more. If you are in any doubt, try calling the RSPCA and tell them you have found a stray and see what answers you get. "Keep it yourself". "Can't you find it a home anywhere"? Take it to the police. It's not really our problem. These are a fair cross section of the answers you are likely to get. What it really means is WE DON'T HAVE TIME TO BE BOTHERED. Please don't leave without putting a donation in the box. Believe me, never again.

i think that it's right that they were prosecuted under the animal cruelty act for overfeeding their dog. I don't know about the cat thing, that's a bit odd. The RSPCA isn't a charity to care for sick animals, it's to stop people being cruel to them. Vets are there to care for the sick.

If you can't afford to get pet insurance for your cat/dog then you don't deserve to keep one.

The cat merely settled down and purred all night to launch the endorphins required to combat the discomfort. All we did exchange into isolate the cat and examine each few hours to work out it is exchange into ingesting. Now; in case you have get right of entry to to a previous due night vet, do take the cat this night. If not, take it interior the morning. do not attempt to grant the cat something yet water until it sees the vet. NO MEDICATING THE CAT.
