The smarter people are, the more they question ANYTHING!
Think about the people that make outstanding breakthroughs in science. They are bright and naturally inquisitive.
People that are bright and naturally inquisitive about spirituality tend to either have a very broad view or sometimes multiple views or if they can't come to any accommodations like that, they just say they don't believe. They become defacto atheists.
I have this argument with my wife who claims to be an atheist. She has beliefs ... just not conventional beliefs that fit into so strict category. I tell her she is not an atheist just an "unclassified spiritualist".

Yes. All atheists possess the one true faith... er I mean unfaith. They alone possess the intellectual gifts necessary to recognize that a diversity of spiritual views is an unwelcome attribute of the human race.
Since all Christian believers everywhere since time began believe that God created Fred and Wilma Flinstone, and said to them, "Go forth and multiply", it is up the superior intellectual abilities of atheists to clear all this up.
They will do so by making ingenious analogies about Santa Claus and bigfoot. And as if those were not already mystifyingly brilliant, the great unwashed will depart their mosques, synagogues, and cathedrals when they hear the clever tales about flying spaghetti monsters and pink unicorns.
Never mind that they are incomprehensible, and don't quite mirror the religions they are meant to parody. Their brilliance will overcome, I tell you!

There is a distribution of intelligence among both atheists and "everyone else". I think it's safe to say that atheists as a group have a relatively high intelligence, but of course there are exceptions in both groups. I work with some very intelligent believers, at least a few of whom may be brighter than I am.
Why is it is considered so egotistical to claim to be smart? If I were 7 feet tall, and I claimed to be taller than most people, would you say I was egotistical? If I could run 100 meters in 15 seconds, and claimed to be faster than most people, would you say I was egotistical?
The fact is that many of the atheists here are pretty danged smart - and as a group, obviously smarter than the believers here. There's nothing egotistical about that - it's the fact of the matter.

Statistically, those without god belief have a higher IQ - most scientists are, in fact, atheists. And less than 1/10 of 1% even CONSIDER Creationism/ID as a real theory. Watch the video posted for more detail.
... you don't have to be rude about the facts.

Thank you I will.
The answer to your question is that there can only be one person who is smarter than everyone else. I would be willing to bet that that person is an atheist.

NO! Of course not!
It's just that on average test after test shows that there is an inverse correlation between intelligence and religion - therefore more intelligent people are more likely to be atheist and not hold 'beliefs' of any kind, while the dumber people... well they come on here and say 'I didnt come from no monkey!'

It's not being arrogant but factual to state that probably they tend to be a bit more intelligent on average than believers.
