Ray Robinson is rated by many as the all time pound for pound king, but seemed to fight best as a welterweight rather than a middleweight. Roy Jones was a very large middleweight and went on to be a multi weight world champ and probably the best fighter of his generation. So at middleweight over twelve rouneds who wins?

Good question sir! What a lot of people don't realize about Sugar Ray Robinson was his toughness. In a career of about 200 bouts he was stopped once and that was because of exhaustion and not his opponent so anyone who thinks Jones Jr would just step in there and knock out Sugar Ray is crazy and doesn't really know their boxing history. Sugar Ray Robinson also fought the best of the best throughout his career tough opponents like LaMotta, Basillio, Fullmer, Graziano. Gavilan and many more. He was a consumate boxer and fighter. He had speed, great footwork, and good power too. Jones Jr has great speed and good power but has been known to have a suspect chin. I believe that in the 9th round of a fast paced action bout, Ray Robinson connects with a perfect left hook to Jones Jr's chin and he cannot beat the count.

Jones in his prime would have been a tough fight for anyone, including Ray Robinson. Jones was cat-like quick and had good power and defense. But Robinson was i think the greatest fighter in history and he would have found a way to beat Roy. Robinson was a smart fighter as well as tremendously skillful and he would have nullified some of Roy's speed with speed of his own and Roy's chin would have been severely tested against Robinson's left hook. Sugar Ray wins this fight by a late round ko or a unanimous decision.

Im a big roy jones fan. But overall I think Ray Robinson was just tougher than Roy Jones. They fought 15 rounds back then and way more often. I know ray fought la motta I think twice in one month and those 2 fought wars in the ring. I would say Ray robinson knocks roy out, and not many could do that in my opinion.

when Muhammad ali was in his prime he stated that sugar Ray Robinson was the best pound for pound boxer of all time. Jones wouldn't stand a chance, and no fighter would be favored to win over him.

Jones was fast, but Robinson was everything. Look at his record on boxrec and you will see in his twenties he only lost one fight. that was to Lamotta, and he was outweighed by about 16 pounds.

Sugar Ray Robinson was fast, accurate and technical, he never wasted a punch, whats more the crowdwere always with him. If the fight lasted 12 rounds he would win on points, more likely though, would be a KO in round 7.

On one hand, Roy Jones jr. has not fought the level of competition that Ray Robinson had, on the other, he has mad skills despite his lack of heart. At his best, Robinson wins in the late rounds by tko, at his worst, he loses a decision to Roy.

Robby by a razor thin split decision. I say that because of Jones' God given skill and athletic prowess. Robinson's experience wins him this fight.
