Mormons and the devil ........................

The Devil was born as a spirit after Jesus "in the morning of pre-existence," (Mormon Doctrine, page 192.)
Jesus and Satan are spirit brothers and we were all born as siblings in heaven to them both, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 163.)
A plan of salvation was needed for the people of earth so Jesus offered a plan to the Father and Satan offered a plan to the father but Jesus' plan was accepted. In effect the Devil wanted to be the Savior of all Mankind and to "deny men their agency and to dethrone god." (Mormon Doctrine, page 193; Journal of Discourses, vol. 6, page 8.)

Mormons must examine there religious structure for themselves and avoid regurgitating things they are told by self appointed experts (Bishop)(The Prophet).

Lucifer is a created angelic being (a cherub)(see Ezekiel 28:13-19 and Isaiah 14:12-15), and Jesus is not in the created realm, He is the Creator.

By Colossians 1:16 we know that Jesus created all things, in

Why does the Book of Mormon say that Lehi found horses when he arrived in America? The horse did not exist in the Americas until the Spaniards brought them over in the sixteenth century.

And they do contradict eachother. It's like any false religion. They pick and choose scripture, mostly old testament to defend the doctrines they want to uphold. But we must stay within the new testament for our doctrines. Not that we shouldn't read the old testament, too. It's great for historical background and stories of faith. But Jesus set up the new covenant which is only written of in the new testament. He said, "Don't put new wine into old wineskins or the wineskins will break and you will ruin both." That means don't lay the new covenant onto the old or you will ruin both. But they, like other false religions take Christianity and try to throw old testament laws and the commandments of their founders into it and it doesn't work.

i don't be responsive to as though it contradicts. that's study in this variety of gentle that it falls appropriate in line. the classes are certainly very plenty a similar. Love of one's enemies (heck, even the beatitudes would properly be study interior the B of M IDENITCALLY AS they look interior the KJV BIBLE). that's not a bad e book, neither is it rather an evil e book or something (a minimum of i does not call it that for the time of my opinion). even although, there are some issues there that are out of chronological order that makes it a questionable resource. such issues as horses and chariots interior the Americas in BC circumstances (while Spaniards have been those that delivered horses to the Americas initially). DNA information is a huge element besides, discrediting the Mormon declare that community individuals are of Jewish descent. i'm hoping that helps. that's not possibly a bad e book by any stretch of the mind's eye. i think of we are able to take a element or 2 removed from it. even although, much like the Bible, I view it as a ethical compass (and a few aspects of the Bible are questionable to apply as that), yet not something greater.

Very good question. Thumbs up!
This is a quote from Lee Strobel's The Case for Christ. It comes from an interview with John McRay, PH.D.

Although Joseph Smith claims his book of Mormon is "the most correct book of any book upon the earth" archaeology has repeatedly failed to substantiate its claims about events that supposedly occurred long ago in the Americas.

As authors John Ankerberg and John Weldon concluded in a book on the topic, "In other words no Book of Mormon cities have ever been located, no Book of Mormon person, place, nation or name has ever been found, no Book of Mormon artifacts, no Book of Mormon scriptures, no Book of Mormon inscriptions...nothing which demonstrates the Book of Mormon is anything other than myth or invention has ever been found."

On the other hand archaeology backs up the Christian Bible all the time. If we dig in Israel and find ancient sites that are consistent with where the Bible said we would find them, that shows the Bible's history and geography are accurate. One prominate archaeologist carefully examined Luke's references to 32 countries, 54 cities, and 9 islands, finding not a single mistake. These are only some sites that have been excavated: The Pool of Bethesda in John 5:1-15, the Pool of Siloam from John 9:7, Jacob's well from John 4:12, even Pontius Pilate's identity has been confirmed by archaeology! John McRay PH. D. was asked if he had ever encountered an archaeological finding that blatantly contravene a New Testament reference he responded, "Archaeology has nto produced anything that is unequivocally a contradiction to the Bible. On the contrary, there have been many opinions of skeptical scholars that have become codified into 'fact' over the years but that archaeology has shown to be wrong."

They don't. Have you read the Book of Mormon? Please show me where they contradict. The few things that aren't logical in the Bible, many are results of incorrect translation, and Joseph Smith added his thoughts in the "Joseph Smith Translation" while he was translating the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon contradicts the fully correct and original bible exactly 0 (no, that is not a typo - I mean ZERO) times.

Got that?

And to Donald V:

The Book of Mormon is not written after the Bible, just translated. If you would pick up a copy and read the dates (I promise it won't hurt!), most of the Book of Mormon occurs before the book of Revelation was written. Also, the verse in Rev you quoted is referring that nothing else should be added to the book of Revelations. If you look in Deuteronomy, there is a similar scripture - and no one has much of a beef with the rest of the Bible after that, do they?

Mormons believe the Book of Mormon teaches the word of God and also believe the Bible teaches the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. Most contradictions between the two books are due to misinterpretation by the reader.

Regarding your "no horses in America" addition... many pre-Columbian carvings and various works of art support the idea that horses, elephants, honey bees, etc existed prior to Spanish arrival in the new land.

ummmm, why didn't you quote anything from the actual Book of Mormon?

The book "Mormon Doctrine" despite it's name actually never got the official endorsement of the Prophet and the other 12 apostles. In fact they asked the author not to publish it because it has so much of the authors opinions in it, and not just our official doctrines...so that's probably not going to be your best resource.

Try actually reading the Book of Mormon at face value - just the pure simple words in there themselves. You'll find the only contradictions come because of the way different individuals interpret them, not because of the actual words themselves.

best wishes

The bible refers to Jesus as "the firstborn of all creation". If you look in the dictionary under the word create, it means to manufacture or make or to bring into being. Therefore it is not hard to figure out that Jesus was the first one that god made. How do we know this? Well, to whom was god speaking when he kept saying "let us...." Surely he was not senile and talking to himself, but rather he was speaking to someone else of intelligence through whom and by means of whom and for whom all things were made. In fact, Satan was also a very powerful angel who chose to rebel against god and wanted the worship of mankind for himself. Being a free moral agent to think and make choices between right and wrong just as man is, he could have pushed those thoughts from his mind, but rathered he revelled in them until he finally chose to rebel against god. When he deceived and lied to Eve in the garden of eden, he became a liar, thus making himself the devil or satan which means liar.

Where the mormons are wrong in their teachings is that the book of mormon was written long after the final chapter of the bible was written, that being the book of Revelation or the Apocolypse as some refer it to, for in that book it states very clearly with no interpretations needed that ...quote, unquote... "anyone who takes away or adds to this book will lose out on his share of life". Also the apostle Paul stated that "should anyone declare to you as good news anything other than what we have already declared to you as good news...even though it be an angel from heaven...let them be accursed!" Again...quote, unquote. However, the mormons teach that the bible is basically obsolete and that the book of mormon was written for our time, so in reality, they are declaring as good news something other than what the apostles declared to us as good news, and they are adding to this book.

Well, when you really get down to it, the new and old testaments have several contradictions.
That's why you should never rule out any "sacred text" or religious scripture, seeing as a whole lot of the bible has been lost.

But I don't really understand Mormonism though......
Did Joseph Smith really divine scripture from golden tablets given to him by angel, but could only be read through a hat?
And no one has ever seen these?
Well really, no one's ever seen the 10 Comandments either. (unless you count the movie with Yule Brenner.)

And exactly in what way do they contradict eachother? Have you ever read the Book of Mormon?
It is a common misconception that they contradict, it is the "popular" opinion of those who are uneducated about the Book of Mormon. It is what is says it is: ANOTHER testament of Jesus Christ. A history of people living on the American continent and their trials, blessings and lives.
Seriously, study it out for yourself, prayerfully. It is a wonderful book and I firmly believe that any person who reads it and lives by its teachings can become closer to the Lord than by any other way!
Good luck.

They do not contradict each other. The Bible happens in the Holy Land. The Book of Mormon happens after Jesus is crucified, rises, and comes to North America to the people here.
