Unprintable profanities and obscenities are uttered in this section like there was no tomorrow. Is politeness no longer an American virtue? Do we have to be sarcastic and vulgar when asking and answering questions?

Hello

I think you will find that this pertains to not just americans but everywhere you go in the world. Have you ever noticed that no matter where you travel or how heavy the accent of person your talking to the "F" word is one of the few words that you will understand.

I believe that part of the profanity is that most people don't consider the "F" word a swear word anymore it is just part of the language. It is used as a noun, pronoun, adjective etc......

But yes I do think there are better ways of phrasing things without having to use profanity. And what was the old saying about sarcasm? :0)

I think sometimes people respond when they are in a bad mood and things may be said wrong. I also think that as you are not face to face it is easier to be rude or get passionate about responses. Course I believe that some people are just rude. :0) I just try to ignore it. I don't think it is going to change.

Best of luck to you.

Thank you for the well mannered question.
People are no longer mindful of what I will call the: "Christian Virtues"
But once in a while I run into a polite, calculated person on Y!A
I don't think there is anything we can do to change people's manners but we can always improve on our vices
Keep up the good work mate.

I think it is very easy to be polite, some people are rude and vulgar just to get a reaction, the ones that are like that I just ignore like bad little boys!

Everyone has the capability of being civil. It's that some people have some serious issues in their demented heads. They don't dare express them in public, so they use the cloak of the internet, knowing they're safe from retribution, to hack on anyone they please. Basically, they're true cowards.

Because people want to rant, and feel safe behind their glowing boxes.

Perhaps we could find another forum for civilised discussion?

Try as i might, I have lost my temper in this forum.
I would welcome educational civil discussion and debate. It seems that it wont be here.
