How do I tell a guy I am no longer interested in and don't want to go out with him without sounding harsh or breaking his spirit/heart? We had a pretty intense week, very passionate, but I realized yesterday that we have very little in common and I am not interested in dating him. He is a bit younger than me, I got swept up in the moment, realized a bit too late that we are not very compatible or on the same mental mental level. I do believe he is a sweetheart and don't want to end it badly.

You are so sweet to think that way but there is no really good way to let someone down unless the both realized the same thing. I had this happen to me once but we both felt that it wasn't quite right and we were more like brother and sister than lovers. That was the only time I can recall not taking a break up badly.

You're going to have to explain to him first then try to let him down easy but re-enforce it with you still want to be a GOOD friend just not lovers. I know it's an old line but it does work many times and hopefully it will work for you.

Good luck and be happy.

Be honest, its gonna hurt him but he will be better off knowing now rather than down the line once he has fallen further! Or you could tell him you are becoming a nun.

Tell him you're a lesbian...I bet you won't break his heart! So he'll just walk away like nothing really happened

tell him that he is a really nice guy and that you had a great time being with him, but you just think that it might be better off if you were friends.
