I gave up smoking about 7 months ago on the fourth attempt. Previous attempts did involve sweets, such as polos or sherbet lemons. However, by replacing a cigarette with something else, you are being constantly reminded of something you are missing. This will make you think of cigarettes, therefore make you want to smoke. It is best if you forget about smoking and try to break the routine of it all, which is the hardest thing. So don't replace smoking with anything at all, it will be far easier in the long run to give up as in time you will forgot smoking. Sucking things will only remind you all the time of what you are missing!!

Well, apart from the obvious comedic answer to this question there are many things you can try to substitute for your habit. I have just quit too and use patches. I also chew normal chewing gum (not nicotine gum) to keep my mouth busy. At work I've always got a pen in my hand which usually ends up in my mouth a some time or another. When I get home I keep the remote in my hand or spend my time cooking, just to keep me busy. If you keep yourself busy whenever you get a craving then it should really help. I also use the nicorette and NHS stop smoking helplines, that way you have someone to talk to and forget about your craving. Whatever you do don't replace the habit with food, you won't stop eating and will get fat!

your level of activity after quitting will also help to prevent weight gain , if you find yourself choosing snacks as a substitute for having a cigarette, choose heathy ones. also i herd to eat oranges that would help also i lost 35pounds eatting pepers and juice to lose the weight so two things you can do for staying a way from smokes.

Liquorice root. It looks like a twig but tastes of liquorice. No sugar, no salt, no calories,no harm to your teeth. It's also beneficial in other stuff and contains Iron I think. It is cheap to buy as well.

Start eating chocolate bars which will make your lips and tongue behave differently to things you put in and it will essentially help you get rid of the habit of sucking ....
