Stage a romantic ballroom waltz for your first dance. Rather than just going out on the floor and swaying side-to-side, go take lessons and actually let your fiance swirl you around the floor like a professional. My sister did this and it was fun to watch and definitely different than the same old boring first dance. Additionally, they did the dance just after they were announced in the room and before the dinner was served.

Just a suggestion but my fiance has been using the site called WeddingBells.com and exchanging ideas with other brides to be. This may be a good spot to find some unique ideas from people who are going through the same thing as you. Congrats on your wedding and good luck finding something unique.

It depends on what you mean by unique -- areas? Food, place, decoration, dress. The first thing you should start with for a "unique" wedding, is figure out what your dress will look like. 2nd thing, consider the amount you want to spend. 3rd, food service -- casual or not. Personally, i love food and i would def. consider finding a different way to have food presented to my guests. Esp. the cake would have to be out of this world. People walk out of a wedding talking about 3 things - what the bride looked like, what the food taste like, and how crappy the band was. Sometimes they will talk about the place and the groom. Depending on your nationality, maybe you could do a traditional wedding, i.e, indian, chinese, irish, thai, etc.

Have a picnic-themed wedding in the park, complete with red and wite checkered tablecloths, and individually packed sack lunches.
Instead of a guestbook, make a "wish tree" out of a large branch painted to coordinate with your wedding colors. Have guests hang notes on ribbon with their wishes for your future.
A photo booth or ice cream sundae bar would be fun as well.
Also consider walking down the aisle to something other than "Here Comes the Bride". I'm not going to. :)
Congratulations on your engagement, and I hope this helps! :)
Have fun planning!

We did a pig roast, and my centerpieces were goldfish in bowls, with sand underneath and sea shells I collected myself. We had close family make food. We had people calling afterward asking who catered! The food was great. Also, the chocolate fountain was a big hit. What my family remembered the most, was how relaxing the environment was. We had it outside, and set up a volleyball net and had beach balls for the kids to play with. It was fun.

I saw this idea when I was planning my wedding, but we weren't allowed to bring outside drinks or food so we couldn't use it. But Jones soda, that has the flavered sodas with black and white photos, allow you to personalize the bottles with a picture of you and your spouse to be!!! I thought it was a cute idea, and then for the sentimental people they have a really unique souviner they can keep!! And it's fairly inexpensive!

For a humorous reception, when it is cake time have the best man stand beside the groom and the maid of honor stand beside the bride and when it comes time to smash the cake surprise them with it in their mouth. Then do the real thing.
It adds a little humor.

I know this sounds real funny but when I get married I wanted to wear patched up overalls, and I want it to be outside at my dads farm. for boquet I wanted wild flowers no real theme other than casual. I dont want people to feel up tight when the come to my wedding.
