I know that in the past, companies or hospitals have done this for nurses in exchange for so many years of service. Is this still done? And is it done for pharmacists?

Some retail pharmacies will give you a certain amount of money per year if you promise to work for them for a certain number of years. However, they might limit the locations of where you can work. This path is what we call indentured servitude.
