People who support war believe war is justified when the leader of a country ok's and supports it or when there is conflict of any kind between 1 or more countries. Anti-war people feel talking is a more peaceful solution. Well, yeah...I guess. Sometime someone will run out of wind. What will the anti-war people do then?

War is seldom justified, and only should be initiated in cases of extreme threat or attack. Obviously the current war in Iraq was totally unjustified.

When diplomacy has failed to protect the safety and well being of your citizens.

Pre-emptive war is justified when the threat to safety and well-being is very imminent.

Obviousy, this leaves room for interpretation.

For example, today we see that the preemptive war on Iraq was not justified because the threat to safety and well-being was NOT that imminent.

When another country attacks you. Just as the Japanese did on December 7th, 1941. This is the quick answer. Iraq is more involved, but justified.

In my opinion, only when your country is in imminent danger. So, Afghanistan was OK to invade, because Al Qaida was there and they were obviously a major threat to the lives of Americans. Iraq, had no WMD's, no connection to terrorism, and no plans nor ability to invade. Therefore, no threat=no war.
