just put it up until hes a little older. My daughter was terrified of the grass when she was at crawling age. Your child will grow out of it.

It might be because it looks all weird when it changes shape, or it might only be a few of the colors. If she is talking, you could try to ask her what scares her, and why.

I definitely would not have any around for awhile, until she gets over it. Even seeing it may creep her out, for a little while.

It seems normal to me: Kids get scared of all sorts of things at that age, and then outgrow these fears. The only negative part of it is if you force a young child to relive whatever this fear is, by keeping the object around. I will bet that in a year, she still remembers, but thinks she is too grown up to be afraid of it anymore.

LOL...sorry, but kids are just funny in what scares them. My daughter was afraid of ants. She's a million times bigger, but ran screaming. Spiders, which are bigger were ok.

Anyway...you don't need playdoh, your child doesn't need playdoh to grow or learn so dump it in the trash & move on.

I used to be scared of my raggedy ann doll ... I'm sure the young one will outgrow the fear of playdoh. Kids can have some pretty strange fears.

You should start out by not giving it to them; then slowly give them pieces of playdoh over time.

There is no reason your 2 y/o MUST be in contact with Play-Doh. Eventually, he or she will get over it. Children that age are often afraid of very silly things. For now, don't force the issue. There is nothing abnormal about it.

Then don't give it to him/her. Playdoh is not necessary for life.

Its TOTALLY okay and normal! It will go away in time. Meanwhile, don't try to MAKE her get over her fear and don't tease her about it! She'll come to terms on her own time!! Some people are scared to death over tin foil!! Can you imagine that!

Has your child played with playdough before without incident? Or is this the first he/she has played with it?

Why dont you play or make something with the playdough with your child just watching. Explain that you are playing and they can do whatever they want to do while you playdough. Eventually they will see that it is harmless and want to play as well.
