How do they get the caramel inside Caramel Hershey's Kisses?

Obviously, no company secrets, please. Just curious (generally) how they get the caramel in there. Is it extruded with the chocolate? Is a mold used? Does the caramel start out as a solid?

I sure don't know..but if you go to the Hershey's site, you can see this cool video about how many of the chocolates are made...and Hershey's in general. :)

There is no secret to it. First, the caramel for each chocolate is placed in a tray or conveyor sort of belt and then liquid chocolate is poured over it as it advances. Once cooled, you've got your Hershey's Caramel Kisses.

I'm guessing maybe a mold is used and they make the caramel kisses like they make the peanut butter cups. Or they could just inject the caramel like they would a jelly doughnut.

If you watch the Food Network show "Unwrapped," you can see them go to the Hershey factory and make Kisses.

I think it'll probably be on for Valentine's Day.

Or, maybe you can look at the web site for Hershey.
