In my office, we currently charge $50.00 per session using nitrous oxide. This is the "usual" fee. If I give ti to someone just long enough to get them "over the hump" as they get an injection, I will reduce the fee or even charge nothing. I can't give it away, as someone above suggested, because I have three machines to deliver it, costing over $1,000 each; I am exposed to much greater liability while using nitrous on a patient; the visit typically takes a bit longer when you allow time for nitrous to take effect and then go away, but you can't add a charge to the besic service rendered; and the I don't get the gases for free, either.

I use nitrous down to a very young age and have never hesitated to use it one 16 year old. You just breathe it in through your nose and slowly "drift away." It doesn't knock you out. It just makes it so you can ignore the proceedings. You sometimes feel like you are floating above the chair. Those who drink Scotch whiskey tell me that it feels similar to a Scotch high, although I was not aware that this was different from any other high...

Yes, it can be used on you. The cost is included in the charge for the corrective action (filling, root canal, etc). You don't do anything; they will attached a little nosemask to your nose. By the way, "laughing gas" is nitrous oxide and is mixed with oxygen. They will increase the oxygen and decrease the nitrous when the procedure is over.

Prices very in each office. So won't charge and some will just depends. Yes you can use Nitrous Oxide at your age but unless you are extremly nervous then they won't use it. They put they nasal hood on you nose turn on the N2O2 and O2 in a ratio of n2o2 to o2 and you just need to breath thru your nose. It shouldn't take too long to feel it. It just helps with anxity

I think they want to know
1-how old do you need to be to have it used?
2-how much does it cost versus Novocaine?
3-how long does it take to take effect?
4-what does a dentist do in preparation of you having it?

I don't know any of the answers but Id like to know the answers to #2, 3, and 4. lol

Yes it does cost because the dentist is paying for it himself. You will want to ask how much they charge in my state it varies from 35 dollars for a child to 85 dollars for major work.

laughing gass dosent make you laugh it puts you to sleep or puts you when you cant feel anypain and are weary and not aware of pain. Why would you want to know if you gonna do a prank or something with it, it could seriously harm someoneif the dose id wrong and you have to go throuhg a dose test gtheres many different kinds and if they get a bad reaction or are alergict to it which happenes 20% of the time theres no chance they will survive there liver will like shut down and stuff. and its extreamly expensive and this info is comeing form a 11 year old so listen.

you cannot buy concentrated nitrous oxide in a 4 foot cannister unless you are a dentist, however, you can buy mini cannisters by the box at Gas Pipe...it is harmless, you can use it from age 8 up...it is almost instantaneous and at the dentist they strap a mask on you and you inhale it
