I just got my little boy Prince neutered this morning and just picked him up about an hour ago. However, he is very hyper and jumping and running around, I just can't get him to stop. I put him in a carrier to try and calm him down but that just did not work. he doesn't have stitches (they don't use them for this procedure) So I'm scared he's going to rip himself open!!

Please be reassured that Prince won't rip himself apart. He is probably so pleased to be back at home with you, after the operation, that he is hyped up with happiness! Vets don't use sutures after a castration operation, as it is quite a straightforward operation, usually without any repurcussions. If possible once he has calmed down, try to cuddle him and keep him calm. He will be fully recovered in a few days time.

If you have a concern, you should make an appointment for a recheck of your cat with the veterinarian. they can examen the area of the procedure and let you know if there is any reason for concern.

Likely though it's fine, as the procedure for neutering cats is a fairly simple one and is typically free of complications.

Best of luck to you and your new pet!

He should be okay. I would just make sure he doesn't harm himself and keep up on his meds. If you really want him to calm down I would sit with him in your bedroom and put on some soft music. It is actually a GOOD sign that he's up and about! Good Luck!

I believe they use lasers now, so you shouldn't have to worry. The anesthesia probably wore off at the Vet's office, so now he is back to being a hyper baby.

He'll be alright the cut that they make is so small that it heals quite quickly and they usually don't have problems ripping themselves open
