I joined the DEP(Delayed Entry Program) back in June of 06. I graduated early and didn't know I was going to until November. I had a guaranteed job that was scheduled for July 07. Now I want to move it to tommorrow or as early as possible and only have a limited amount of job choices. Reserve After 18 mos.(Medical, Full-Time Support), or NAT. NAT(reserve program). Can you give your opinion or advice.

That's a good question. Before I go on a rant, the recruiter cannot guarentee a specific MOS, but it can guarentee a field...avionics, medical, dental, intelligence, infantry...etc. Examine two parts; 1. What are some of your potential career interests? 2. What's hot in the job market and compare salaries. Also, understand that as a reservist or National Guardsman, your options are very limited and you may very well be activated to full status anyway. As an Active-duty member you'll have more options than you know what to do with (depending on your ASVAB...110 GT score or higher. You may want to go back and research all branches and see what they have to offer. Kinda like a job interview, except your interviewing them. As far as job credibility goes, which do you think will get you more experience, especially in a technical field. You will also be entitled to further occupational training and full college tuition assistance. Now your probably thinking "I already signed the contract and I'm legally obligated". Wrong...until you show up and start getting paid is when you fall under the UCMJ. So take your time and discuss the possibilities with your family and where you see yourself in five or six years. And do not worry about hurt feelings from the recruiter, regardless of what they may want you to believe, your not buddies. Your'e a quota...nothing more but another number on the whiteboard. I applaud you for your decision and good luck.
